I'm in part 7... the "looking back" segment... I wish the first six were like this. Jim is pissed from the pushback from Bill, and it's amazing. I'm only 45 minutes in, but man it's great listening to him try to back out of some of these arguments when it gets testy.

Can you listen to part 7 without listening to 1-6? I could do one episode, all 7 is a bit much ore me to get through.

Yeah - you'll lose some of the context of what they're talking about, but (so far) I think you could just listen to part 7 and not feel completely lost with it.

I just finished "part 7" today... by far my favorite.

Again, I will say upfront that Jim has been very kind during these discussions and as I've said in this thread I think he comes off way better than his CES Reply does (they discuss that at the beginning of this one), but you can see the wheels come off for him about ~40 minutes in because Bill really pushes on why his arguments about the 'divine method' just don't work.

It's pretty clear that Bill is on much firmer footing arguing about current issues and the problems with the church's foundation on the fly than he is with the specifics of the issues themselves. I don't mean that as an insult, but you could see that when Bill was able to push back quickly how flustered it made Jim and how bad he looked.

If you listen to part 7, you will understand quickly why no church leaders or apologists would ever do this with a knowledgeable critic of the church -- you come off looking absolutely terrible and it's not the fault of the debater but the product you're trying to protect.

As I listened to it -- especially the second half, I found myself laughing out loud a few times because of the absurdity of it all... luckily the only one here to react to that is my dog.
