This is an excellent statement on the cult of personality inside the church.

Members are supposed to stand when Apostles enter the chapel, foyer, relief society room, or even the restroom. They should remain standing until the Apostle is seated. There is even a song to accompany this show of reverence. It is called "Hail to the Apostle".

The funny/sad thing about this issue is that one cannot convince a TBM they're "worshipping" church leadership.

It's very similar to getting them to recognize a false prophet in sheep's clothing. False prophets can be and are very charismatic, warm, likable, friendly, well behaved people. They approach what they have set up as "holy" with great posturing and solemnity. They promise you great blessings and the favor of God for giving them your money, time and efforts. They aren't all like Jim Jones or David Koresh.
A false prophet who is really good at what he does wants you to LIVE, not die. You're so much more productive when you're alive. ;)

Just ask yourself if you will get in more hot water in the church by ignoring the mandates of Jesus (e.g. not also giving your coat to someone who asks for your sweater, not forgiving 7 x 70, not loving your enemy) or those of church leaders (e.g. being a Deseret News journalist who consistently uses the word Mormon, standing up at the end of a meeting before Bednar, blessing the sacrament in a rainbow colored shirt).

Good point Hagoth.

I've often thought the policy/doctrine of standing when a general authority enters a room smacks of military-type discipline. It's like saluting an officer. There's nothing wrong with military discipline in its place, but in an organization that purports to represent Jesus Christ? It seems contrary to the teaching that the greatest shall serve the least. That bothers me.

When in the matrix it is hard to believe it is not real. This is why I hold the 15 accountable. They have the ability to stop all this nonsense with a simple statement at the pupil. They don't. They can direct people to worship God over edicts of their own choosing. They don't. They can squelch the very notion that God is talking to them daily. They don't.

The leaders are tho ones I hold accountable. Not the member who was trained all their life to believe. Afraid to look behind the curtain in fear of what they may find. Sure they were simple members once to, but they got to the top and forgot what integrity was. They did not see Jesus, but they do not tell you that. There is no revelation from on high, but they continue to say there is.

A Hollywood idol may be full of themselves and make outlandish comments. People may adore them, but you have options to ignore them with no real repercussions. Not so for our church leaders, they demand a piece of members livelihood and their soul. If you do this you had better make sure you are right, and do everything you can to not be the subject of idol worship. They don't!!
