Trolling the church - the curious case of my SIL

Post by Meilingkie » Wed Oct 19, 2016 2:00 pm

Hello folks,

A few weeks ago we visited my inactive SIL and her BF who just bought their first house.
They lived in Belgium in the Turnhout branch, and they were being stalked by the Stake with emails, and visits.
Well as luck would have it my BIL-to-be works at the housing corporation which is owned by the municipality, and it doth have it´s priviliges.
Like having first dibs on a house if the city wants to build one.
So he did, and he did it with a twist to get rid of Church-interference.

Imagine if you will a house exactly on a border between cities, wards, stakes and even countries.

The COB can´t handle it. And the 2 bishops & 2 stakepresidents don+t know how to handle it either.
So they sent her papers to SLC and asked to help, and COB states, we can´t help.
You figure it out !!!!

Here the link with an explanation.

So my SIL has bought a house, with the border running exactly through their frontdoor.
As a consequence she has 2 legal adresses, and 2 ZIP-codes in 2 different cities, municipalities, wards, stakes and countries.
And no-one now bothers her, because both bishops don´t want to meddle with a member from another Ward/Stake, one who is a bit anti to boot.

Great story. I wonder if there are any similar places to live in Utah where the church won't want you?

I don´t know, here´s another strange thing.
Quite absurd, but logical if you think about it.

This is the door to an appartmentbuilding we visited while we were given a tour of the town.
By Dutch Zoning ordinance buildings were only allowed to have 2 stories.
By Belgian Zoning Ordinance new buildings could have 4.
And the development straddled the border, so they made 2 doors which come into the same hallway as the picture shows.

The first 2 stories are Dutch as Dutch Zoning Ordinances states, pay Dutch Taxes, have Dutch TV-stations etc, Dutch wallsockets etc.
Stories 3 and 4 are Belgian as allowed by Belgian Zoning Ordinances, and pay Belgian Taxes, have Belgian TV-stations, Belgian wallsockets etc. etc.

But Church can+t be pragmatic, my BIL and SIL are happy Church won´t do anything now.
My MIL is pretty upset about it.

Can you imagine what would become of these poor souls if the Netherlands, and Belgium ever go to war against each other???
