One of my IRL friends is a researcher in the field of cognitive neurobiology. He presented "This is your brain on God" at TEDxSaltLakeCity in 2016:

The conclusion of video kind of made sense. Like sex, religion fulfills a evolutionary need, but it should be practiced safely and kindly. And personally I think sex is more necessary for the survival of the race than religion, but I could be wrong.

God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.
