This ABC What would you do segment is GOLD

Post by oliver_denom » Fri Jul 21, 2017 9:48 am

I died when I watched this:
http://abcnews.go.com/WhatWouldYouDo/vi ... y-48650127

ABC plays out a scenario where a kid comes out to his Mormon parents in public and they loudly reject him and abandon him in the restaurant. It's staged to see how the people who overheard would react. The reactions from other people are truly heart warming.

Then, the announcer adds a caveat to say that not all Mormons reject their gay children, as they cut to a scene from Sister Wives. OMG, I could imagine heads exploding all across Utah. "Not all Mormons", cut to a polygamist family. Lol.

My daughter and I both watched this clip. She wondered what the reactions would have been like had they staged it in Utah.

Not all Mormons. Some leave their kid in the desert for having cold feet about a mission....

I'm calling 1/2 B.S. on this story.

This restuarant is 12 minutes from my house. The restaurant is in Cave Creek, AZ. It's like a mini Park City, UT. Lot's of rich, old artsy, liberal people. Getting some gay support here would be very easy. I suppose the one caveat is this town is a major biker bar town.

If the show "what would you do" wanted a bit more realistic population, they should have chosen a site 30 miles south in Gilbert. They seem to have done some research by stating AZ is 5% LDS, but they choose one of the least LDS towns in AZ.
