In Which I am Stumped

Post by Thoughtful » Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:01 pm

Spouseman wears a short beard and I think it needs some sort of product to tame it.

I want to buy him a nice gift set for father's day with some things to try. Something that smells nice and helps it lay flat.

Suggestions?

Pomade might work. It smells nice and makes hair lay flat. I've never used it on hair that short, so results may vary.

I usually manage my beard by keeping it trimmed short, but I don't usually use product for my main hair, so maybe I'm biased.

This is Spouseman too.. not even hair conditioner or gel.

Do you think pomade would be greasy on the face? Maybe one that's higher in wax?

My son uses beard butter. There are multiple different kinds. It seems to work well.

My family jokingly bought me some beard "stuff" for Christmas once upon a time for the little patch of fur that covers my chin.

Fancy brush that will do a bit of taming if he actually uses it:

And some beard/face wash that does actually smell wonderful:

Any sort of conditioner should make it more "soft and manageable" no?

P.S. Goofy beard grooming stuff is expen$ive.

Beard oil! You can make your own: Mix 50/50 sweet almond oil and jojoba oil, then add a few drops of whatever essential oils you/he think smell best. Looks good, feels good, smells good!

Bacon grease with a little garlic powder and paprika. It may not tame his beard, but he will have a pack of neighborhood dogs following him around.

Black people have used hair straightener in the past but now appreciate their own natural hair. Wonder if that same line of reasoning might apply to beards?

BTW, does pomade stain pillowcases?
