Zadok's Mission Report

With permission of the moderators, (not yet obtained), this is where I intend to record the faith-promoting experiences that Sister Zadok and I have while serving on our senior mission for the St. Judas the Apostate Ward. We have been called, and have enthusiastically accepted the call to travel among our brethren throughout the land of North American, teaching the truth to all who will listen. We will meet with other apostates and strengthen them in the resolve to spread truth and light across the land.

I don't want to have a blog, but I would like to share some of my experiences with my best friends who are and always have been at NOM.

So... We left Utah on October 1st. We are travelling in a Blue-Bird Wanderlodge Motorhome. It is a fully self contained home on wheels. It is propelled by a 300 hp CAT-diesel engine, and looks a lot like a Blue-Bird School Bus. The official name of our Motorhome is "Color Us Gone", but we have nick-named him "Harvey" (RV)

We spent a week at my wife's friends ranch near Boise Idaho, (Two former TBM's who are now out of the church). Then we traveled to Eugene, Oregon where we are now parked on my Brother's small farm near Elmira, Oregon.

If you are still in Eugene next weekend, let me know. I'll be in Corvallis at the Oregon State game, and will come down and have beer with you.

It's good to see you again Cwald! I drove through Bend about three times this last year. I'll try to budget some time to come say hi next time I'm through there!

We have left Eugene, and are now in Brookings, just north of the Oregon/California line on the coast. We expect to be here at least a week, maybe longer. Cwald, I am on the wrong side of the mountains to visit you this time, but will be checking on your brewing progress next time we come this way. Our plans will take us down the coast as far as Eureka, California, then inland to Chico, Sacramento, Fresno and San Diego, then over to Arizona (Quartzsite) for the Winter.

Well, if you end up on the Eastern side of the Sierras, stop by Ridgecrest, CA.

My dear Brethren and Sister-ren. Fast Sunday is when I would be remiss if I didn't stand on my feet and report my labors of the past month. Sister Zadok and I have been laboring in the Brookings, Oregon mission trying to spread the truth of Mormonism to all who will receive it. Indeed, even Sister Zadok attended church yesterday, (the first time in over 2 years), and reported the ward was small but faithful. The ward-house is familiar being "LDS-Ward Plan #105-Reverse, with a beautiful under powered and tonally lacking Allen electronic organ. The organist was Sister Banana Slug, who played just a bit slower than she moved.

I did not attend church with Sister Zadok, because I was needed over at the famous Brookings Institute for the study of overweight penguins and retarded Emu's. I was unable to find Moshka, even though I had carved out several hours to join him for pre-lunch, lunch, after-lunch, and snack.

The weather has been atrocious, it has rained almost every day, and be overcast all the rest of the time. Finding people here to teach has been difficult, but I did develop a new rule to add to "Zadok's Rules"

"Religion is like a penis. Some people have one, some don't and it really doesn't matter if you have one or not. You may be very proud of yours or you may be embarrassed, and if you don't have one, you really don't care. But it is always wrong to pull yours out and wave it around in front of everyone else, no matter how excited you are about it."

I will return to the pulpit and report my labors for November next fast sunday.

Uncle Zadok! Holler if you go up past Seattle. I'm right in the top left corner of the Land Formerly Known As This Great Republic. I want to hang out before the apocalypse, if possible.

What a marvelous undertaking! Sorry about that Brookings Institute lunch SNAFU.

Don't forget to check out the Archimedes Waffle House in Eureka, California. You might even ask them for a peek at the hot tub where he had his famous Epiphany, (as well as her sister Euphonia and best friend Trixie). Those Redwoods are really something, eh? At least Archimedes invention has been a favorite past time ever since.

Best wishes. :D

As soon as I knew the Emu was active on this board one of the first things I thought of was to ask if the motor home he trip written about on the old board had happened. Glad to see you have hit the road. Looks like a nice rig you have.

Did you have the paint work done, or was that from the previous owner.

Looking forward to your updates. It might motivate me to do more than dream about doing something similar after I retire.

We have moved on to dryer and warmer climes. Currently in San Diego county about equal distance between Escondido, Poway, and Ramona. (Which, to honor Joseph Smith, we have renamed "Ramon-EYE-ha").

In about a week we will join with a large group of other motorhome crazies, on the desert of Arizona, for the annual Quartzsite gem show and naked old geezers trying to get tan in January. Speedos abound but the pictures of fat old men wearing them bring a whole new meaning to pornography. Not to mention the old women who have been ravaged by gravity.

The Quartzite Gem Show sounds like a marvelous chance for you and Sister Zadok to acquire some new seer stones. Not the same as the Burning Man festival, but the line for the porta-potties is probably shorter.

I will be looking for a couple of new 'stones' as the two I now have quit working several years ago.

This motor home was made by the Bluebird school bus company. They basically took one of their school buses, changed the window cut-outs, and built a little house inside. The paint job is original and how it came from the factory.

I thought of you and your travels as we drove up to the lake today to check on the boat. I noticed that the snowbirds have begun setting up for the winter in the national forest campgrounds around the lake. :D
