Offering a trade to apologists

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Offering a trade to apologists

Post by Hagoth »

Hey BoM apologists. You tell me that three of these South Arabic letters (can you find 'em?) are the Hebrew equivalent to NHM, which you say spells Nahom, which you claim is the location described in the BoM. Kinda seems like a not-all-that-impressive coincidence to me.

Yet you tell me that the city of Moroni/Morone on the Island of Comorah/Cumora/Comore, which may have featured in the buried treasure tales that fascinated Joseph Smith, is just a coincidence.

How about if we call it even? I'll drop the Moroni, Cumorah thing if you drop the NHM thing?

I'm not an apologist, and I do see those two examples as comparable.
I am convinced a lot of our differences are motivated by something other than the facts or data.
Some things that we all are affected by: Bias and Pride, for example.
Facts alone will not convince an opponent. Facts coupled with humility, empathy, kindness, and a sincere desire to understand the other sometimes might. 8-)
God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.
