Priesthood Session Thread

Post by Mormorrisey » Sat Mar 31, 2018 5:01 pm

All right - I wasn't supposed to be home for this, but anyone else interested in joining me in my pain? The only consolation is that it seems to only be 90 minutes long! Here we go.

By the way, excellent work by MoPag for creating the other two threads.

C'mon fellas. How about a bribe of virtual priesthood session ice cream?

Surely people can't find something else better to do on a Saturday night?

Interesting maneuver here - apparently Nelson is speaking second tonight, after this Holmes guy, of the YM presidency.

OK Nelson is up, after a pretty vanilla talk on the Aaronic priesthood by Holmes.

I now understand how Andrew Bogut feels.

New announcement from Nelson.

Apparently everyone is now is in the Elders' quorum - unless you have a calling that you need to deal with as a HP group. Not sure what this means, so Nelson says Rasband and Christofferson will explain this to us? He spent five minutes telling us nothing about these new programs except they studied it for months. Revelation takes time, I guess. I also guess it's up to the two junior dudes to be Nelson's mouthpieces.

High priests and EQ combined now! EQ will have even more traditional/orthodox than before. Things will get even more confrontational If I ask any reasonable questions.

It seems they solved the dwindling priesthood attendance problem at one fell swoop.

I have to dock Elder Christofferson 1 point for every 5 words he quotes from what Nelson said minutes, nay seconds ago.
Someone can do the counting later.

Ugh. This sounds awful. I was hoping they would ax home teaching.

Another retelling of the beat harvest story. Would be nice to have some new stories now and then.

We seem to have already transitioned from the big announcement back to farm stories...

Here goes Rasband with the bootlicking and "dear prophet" nonsense.

Uh, this wasn't that earthshattering, dude.

Yep, Rasband even acknowledged that much with his stories of small quorums in Russia/Africa. That's exactly why.

No more PEC meetings, ward or stake, and no more High Priests meetings once a year.

Oh wait. Still one HP meeting a year, but just this streamlined/royal HP group.

Consolidate 2 groups into one and continue doing the same thing!

Relabel the groups and meetings.

Receive blessings from a stronger quorum.

Increased unity and mentoring.

Strengthen the priesthood.

This is ground breaking revisions.

Eyering and Oaks to finish it off. Looks like Nelson just spoke to set up the latest change. That, or they've given up ending a half hour early, which would piss me off.

I was putting kids to bed and missed most of Nelson and Rasband's talks... poor timing I guess. I did catch the No more HP thing. Did they really nix PEC? That would be pretty awesome, PEC is one of the most worthless meetings I've ever woken up at 6am to go to.
