My hobbies, well...

-playing Candy Crush (a serious timewaster)
-playing piano (classical, jazz, rock)
-linguistics (especially morphology and historical linguistics)
-astronomy, cosmology, particle physics
-watching documentaries on YouTube
-dogs! definitely basset hounds right now
-Japan
-flower gardening, landscaping
-vegetable gardening
-Tolkien (like, seriously, even the obscure stuff)
-learning about science (microbiology, evolutionary biology, chemistry, geology, genetics)
-eating tacos and pizza
-Ancient Egyptian history, culture, language
-Dungeons and Dragons, painting fantasy miniatures
-hiking

As you can tell from my hobbies, I no longer believe anything in the Book of Genesis was literal in any remotely possible way. Which also kills the Pearl of Great Price and everything up to the Books of Kings.

Edited to Add: How could I forget about Star Trek!

Yes! I also like to read historical non-fiction, good biography, anything that can transport me to another place and time. And I'm a huge classics fan, Jane Austen, Dickens, the Brontes, Thomas Hardy. No one ever wants to read the books that I recommend. ;).
I bet I would like them! . . . it sounds like our tastes are somewhat similar. On a side note, are you on Goodreads or LibraryThing? I love them for bookish conversation and recommendations.

I was on Goodreads for a while, challenged by a friend to read 50 books in a year (made it!) but I don't really have the time to keep up with it anymore.

I’m learning how to fly fish, bought a motorcycle, and have been spending time doing home improvement.

Graduate from grad school next week, so hopefully the amount of time I have available for hobbies will increase substantially.

What do you write in? I've moved to mostly Python, just recently learning web design using the Django framework. Super fun stuff. Something has clicked with CSS recently. JavaScripts...not so much.

What is your definition of strategy board games? There are so many types. I play hex and counter conflict simulations (wargames).

Lately I have been playing a lot of the new Battletech computer game.
