I want to go through this thread and listen to all the songs. Well, most of them haha.

Here is one I am addicted to at the moment. I think it’s absolutely beautiful... You will have to be open minded about it though (and read). I think it fits, but all I really know is that it fits for me.

Songs like this were a catharsis for me when I had my FC, and still are in other situations. This is one of my favorites, for reasons I can't say (because the lyrics don't really match up to a FC but whatever).

Paul Simon’s “Flowers Never Bend With the Rainfall” has been helpful to me on several occasions. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd-DvSTBq1o

I especially like these two parts of the song:

“I am blinded by the light
Of God and truth and right
And I wander in the night without direction.
So I'll continue to continue to pretend”

“So my fantasy
Becomes reality,
And I must be what I must be and face tomorrow.
So I'll continue to continue to pretend”

I consider Counting Stars by OneRepublic the song of my faith crisis. While I know that's not what it was written about, I do find it oddly fits for me.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT_nvWreIhg

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Yeah, we'll be counting stars

I see this life
Like a swinging vine
Swing my heart across the line
In my faces flashing signs
Seek it out and ye shall find
The old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
I'm just doing what we're told
I, feel something so right
Doing the wrong thing
I, feel something so wrong
But doing the right thing
I could lie, could lie, could lie
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming 'bout the things that we could be
Baby I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming 'bout the things that we could be
But baby I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

I feel the love
And I feel it burn
Down this river every turn
Hope is a four letter word
Make that money
Watch it burn
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
I'm just doing what we're told
I, feel something so wrong
But doing the right thing
I could lie, could lie, could lie
Everything that drowns me makes me wanna fly

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
Baby I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming 'bout the things that we could be
But baby I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars
Take that money and watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I learned
Take that money and watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I learned
Take that money and watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I learned
Take that money and watch it burn
Sink in the river the lessons I learned
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming 'bout the things that we could be
Baby I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming 'bout the things that we could be
Baby I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

I've seen a few shows at the amphitheater, both seated and on the lawn. In my (useless) opinion, the lawn section is great. Lawn tickets are cheap. Get there early, reserve your spot, bring your binoculars.

I'll be in the lawn section on the 2nd, you're welcome to join me. :ugeek:

Sorry, I know these are in Japanese so hard to relate to on an extra level, but I just think Amazarashi's lyrics are moving.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x9S53o ... ex=12&t=0s

Life is Beautiful:
"No matter what happens, I’ll always be right here.
I’ll be surprised every time you decide to come home.
I’ve loved singing since I was a boy, but I didn’t have the confidence to tell anyone.
It’s been a while. How are things over there? As long as you’re fine, that’s all that really matters.
We said we’d never complain to each other, but maybe we can talk about the past sometime.

I’m still singing my songs even now, though some might say I’m a little too dark for their taste.
But because I told myself that I’d never lose, I was able to make it all the way to where I am now.
I won’t let anybody take this feeling from me. I can feel so much weight piling on my shoulders.
Do you remember those who gave up, those given up, and those whose dreams fell through in the end?

On this planet of short lives and disappearing dreams, all the sad stories don’t seem so surprising.
To think that people can smile through their tears in spite of it all. Life is beautiful.
What we gain in one hand, we lose from the other. Nothing is ever enough. It makes us want to cry.
And somehow, we don’t let ourselves stay steeped in our regrets. Life is beautiful.

Down at my favorite bar, I got carried away. The sun met us idiots on the way home next morning.
Someone said it looked like the sun rose for us. My headache that day made my laughter awkward.
Looking back, those days seem so far away now. The guitar I had back then is all caked with dust.
But if there’s one thing I can say after all this time, the dawn waiting for us is just around the corner.

In this town of betrayals and things passing us by, all the bitter crying everywhere isn’t so surprising.
To think that every one of these things is still able to move us so. Life is beautiful.
Shortly after a fight at a family restaurant, a man stepped onto the train and waved until he was gone.
He promised never to look back at the passing scenery again. Life is beautiful.

Would you look at the time. I guess you should head on home.
I don’t really want to you to go, but I'm sure you feel the same.
I’m filled with anxiety, but forward’s all there is. A little enthusiasm can take you anywhere.
Touring from Tokyo on up to Aomori, no matter the venue I played, it was always good to me.
After all, I love any place where you get to sing. As long as I get to sing this song for you.

This is a song that draws out the tears from the crowd. I’ll never lose what matters to me ever again.
Never look back. You won’t find any flowers blooming there. Life is beautiful.
Well then, see you again, and remember to treat your body well. Careful when you walk, I see you staggering.
Look over there. The morning sun has already risen. Life is beautiful.
Life is beautiful."

There was a Time when I Thought about Dying/The Reason Why I Thought I'd Die:

"There was a time when I thought about dying, because the seagulls squawked at the end of the pier.
Drifting aimlessly at sea ‘til they'd all flown away, having pecked at my life like scraps of bread...
If I lie down beneath the sunlight streaming through the trees, will I become like the dirt and insect remains?…

I warm myself up at this old wooden station, though I don't really feel like going anywhere.
But today feels exactly like yesterday, and if I don’t change something, tomorrow will be the same.
I know it will. I know it will, and yet still…

There was a time when I thought about dying, because I was nothing but an empty husk.
And whenever someone cries because they’re not happy, I’m sure it’s because they really want to be.

There was a time when I thought about dying, because my shoelaces had come undone.
I was never very good at retying them. Kind of like how I am with the ties between people.
There was a time when I thought about dying, because some kid wouldn’t stop staring at me.
...
The boy sits tucked inside a birdcage, ears covered to drown out the ringing school bell.
I’m fighting an enemy I can’t even see, the Don Quixote of this apartment.
Honestly, I bet the prize isn't all that great.

There was a time when I thought about dying, because everyone said I didn’t have a heart.
And whenever someone cries longing for another’s love, it’s because they accidentally learned what the real thing feels like.

There was a time when I thought about dying, because you just had to have such a pretty smile.
And whenever someone can’t help but think about dying, I’m sure it’s because we’re all trying a little too hard.

There was a time when I thought about dying. It must have been because I hadn’t met you yet.
And if people like you can exist in this world, then maybe I like it a little after all.

And if people like you are living in this world, then maybe it’s alright to hope a little too."

I tried to take out lines from the second song to shorten it but I don't think it really helped. Their songs are usually over five minutes long.

I can't believe I haven't found this thread before... I love this one from Pearl Jam called Getaway.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ7YV7oRDy4

Everyone’s a critic looking back up the river
Every boat is leaking in this town
Everybody is thinking they can all be delivered sitting in a box like lost and found

But I found my place and it’s all right
We’re all searching for a better way
Get this off my plate
It’s all right, I got my own way to believe

Find a lighthouse in the dark stormy weather
We all could use a sedative right now
Holy rollers sitting with their backs to the middle all alone and sinking the bow

And if you want to have to pray, it’s all right
We all be thinking with our different brain get this off my plate
It’s all right, I got my own way to believe

It’s okay - Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith
Mine is mine and yours won’t take its place
Now, make your getaway

Science says we’re making love like the lizards
Try and say that fossils ain’t profound
Silence says we’re not allowed to consider
Silence says stand up sit down you’re out

But I found my place
And it’s all right, I’m bearing witness to some better things, get this off my plate
It’s all right, I’ve got my own way to believe

It’s okay, sometimes you find yourself being told to change your ways
There’s no way, mine is mine and yours won’t take its place, now make your getaway
It’s okay, sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith
Mine is mine and yours won’t take its place
Now make your getaway, it’s okay
Sometimes you find yourself being told to change your ways
For god’s sake, mine is mine and yours won’t take its place
Now, make your getaway
Now, make your getaway

Here's a good one I just came across.

Bring Me The Horizon - Mantra
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvZxPWmnqeo

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Do you wanna start a cult with me?
I'm not vibrating like I ought to be
I need a purpose, I can't keep surfing
Through this existential misery
Now we're gonna need some real estate
But if I choose my words carefully
Think I could fool you that I'm the guru?
Wait, how do you spell epiphany?

[Chorus]
Before the truth will set you free, it'll piss you off
Before you find a place to be, you're gonna lose the plot
Too late to tell you now, one ear and right out the other one
'Cause all you ever do is chant the same old mantra
Yeah!

[Verse 2]
Could I have your attention, please?
It's time to tap into your tragedy
Think you could use a new abuser
Close your eyes and listen carefully
Imagine you're stood on a beach
Water gently lapping at your feet
But now you're sinking, what were you thinking?
That's all the time we have this week

[Chorus]
Before the truth will set you free, it'll piss you off
Before you find a place to be, you're gonna lose the plot
Too late to tell you now, one ear and right out the other one
'Cause all you ever do is chant the same old mantra

[Bridge]
And I know this doesn't make a lot of sense
But do you really wanna think about yourself now?
All I'm asking for's a little bit of faith
You know it's easy to believe
And I know this doesn't make a lot of sense
You know you gotta work the corners of your mind now
All I'm asking for's a little bit of faith
You know it's easy to, so easy to believe

[Chorus]
Before the truth will set you free, it'll piss you off
Before you find a place to be, you're gonna lose the plot
Before the truth will set you free, it'll piss you off
Before you find a place to be, you're gonna lose the plot
Too late to tell you now, one ear and right out the other one
'Cause all you ever do is chant the same old ma

So many good choices so far, so many good possibilities still remain. I'm going to choose two:

You can't go wrong with Built To Spill's incredibly tongue-in-cheek Randy Described Eternity:

Every thousand years
This metal sphere
Ten times the size of Jupiter
Floats just a few yards past the earth
You climb on your roof
And take a swipe at it
With a single feather
Hit it once every thousand years
'Til you've worn it down
To the size of a pea
Yeah I'd say that's a long time
But it's only half a blink
In the place you're gonna be

Where you gonna be
Where will you spend eternity
I'm gonna be perfect from now on
I'm gonna be perfect starting now
Stop making that sound
Stop making that sound
I will say I forgot it
But it was only yesterday
And it's all you had to say

https://youtu.be/Kb1RlzyWHm4

And for number 2, let's go with Elliott Smith's Memory Lane:

This is the place you end up
When you lose the chase
Where you're dragged against your will
From a basement on the hill

And all anybody knows is
You're not like them
And they kick you in the head
And send you back to bed

Isolation pulls you past a tunnel to a bright
World where you can make a place to stay

But everybody's scared of this place
And staying away
Your little house on memory lane

The mayor's name is fear
His force patrols the pier
From the mountains of cliche
It advances every day

The doctor spoke a cloud
He rained out loud,
"You keep your doors and windows shut
And swear you'll never show a soul again"

But isolation pushes you 'til every muscle aches
Down the only road it ever takes

But everybody's scared of this place
And staying away
Your little house on memory lane

If it's your decision
To be open about yourself
Be careful or else
Be careful or else

Uncomfortable, apart
It's all written on my chart
So I take what's given me
Most cooperatively

I do what people say
And lie in bed all day
Absolutely horrified
I hope you're satisfied

Isolation pushes past self-hatred, guilt and shame
To a place where suffering's just a game

But everybody's scared of this place
And staying away
Your little house on memory lane

Your little house on memory lane

Didn't see this song, but it surely belongs here:
Take Me To Church

https://www.google.com/search?q=take+me ... eupFZwAAAA

The video is haunting and the lyrics.... Pretty much describes my feelings about religion at this point.
My lover's got humour
She's the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody's disapproval
I should've worshipped her sooner
If the Heavens ever did speak
She is the last true mouthpiece
Every Sunday's getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week
'We were born sick, ' you heard them say it
My church offers no absolutes
She tells me 'worship in the bedroom'
The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you
I was born sick, but I love it
Command me to be well
Amen, Amen, Amen

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

If I'm a pagan of the good times
My lover's the sunlight
To keep the Goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice
To drain the whole sea
Get something shiny
Something meaty for the main course
That's a fine looking high horse
What you got in the stable?
We've a lot of starving faithful
That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

No masters or kings when the ritual begins
There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin
In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene
Only then I am human
Only then I am clean
Amen, Amen, Amen

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

When I was at BYU I took the hymns class, and when I was studying for the final, I ended up reading about "As Now We Take The Sacrament" while my roommate listened to "We're Not Gonna Take It" at full volume in the back. I thought the juxtaposition was funny then, and now it's nothing but extremely appropriate.
