Heh, I just had my first Old Fashioned tonight. Made with George Dickel Rye. I've become an instant fan of the cocktail.

It’s a good one, for sure. Just had another one tonight with Basil Hayden’s Dark Rye. Easy cocktail to start with, for sure.

I just love how spirit forward it is. Some cocktails just kinda remind you a particular liquor is in it when it peaks out from behind the other ingredients. An Old Fashion may be gussied up but it is unabashedly whiskey.

Wow - had a couple of Vanilla Chai Manhattan’s tonight - amazing. They do a milk wash with the bourbon. So delicious.

Christmas Day we broke out all the gins:
Madam Pattirini from Ogden's Own Distillery
Carl Ethan Akeley from Dented Brick in SLC
Bombay Saphire
Tanqueray No. Ten

We just wanted to go through them all and do some taste comparisons, then ended up putting our favorites into some sparkling juices of choice. It's fun to pick out the flavor differences and there are some good ones in there.

I'm enjoying a gin and tonic with Anchor Junípero. Sadly the store was out of limes so a lemon garnish it is.

Traveling tonight with dw. Our hotel has a bar, so needless to say we got drinks to bring back to the room. A margaretta, Dirty Shirly, and Penguins hockey game to make for an enjoyable evening.

Spent a $150 at the liquor store last Saturday. So many different beers and spirits to try! Anyway, this is my new favorite vodka from Hawaii:

I think we bought it because the bottle was so beautiful, but it's actually a great vodka. I have several vodkas in the collection now, three from Utah, four from Russia and some others.

I like beer. Alot.

Just enjoyed a 22 of Space Dust IPA from Elysian Brewing.

That is all.

They learned hockey for the sole purpose of opening up maple syrup trade with Canada. There was an equal chance you could have ended up watching a Penguins curling game.

So this past weekend was... not fun... I found out Friday that the trial was pushed back another six months. My divorced friends group, for lack of a better title, took me out to dinner tonight. Definitely cheered me up. I tried a margarita- strawberry, my very first one. It tasted good enough I guess. I look forward to keep trying different drinks.

Chocolate Margaritas up next!

You'll thank me later.

Just got back from Colorado. Attended the Estes Winter Festival with DD and DW and did some significant tasting of local brews and spirits. I brought back some new flavors. This was a favorite:

Margarita. I wish it was a peach one. I don't know where to find them, and I don't know how to make them, but I had one on my birthday a couple of years ago at a restaurant (that no longer has them). Mmm.

A nice cup of china [green] tea. My fifth cup of the day. Full of caffeine - I think. I am a tea addict. Tea also seems to keep my mind clear when I need to study long into the night.
