Nelson visit

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

I could go into more detail if anyone has questions, but it was largely forgettable. I await what the faithful will take away from the experience. My wife admitted that she probably would not do this kind of event again because of the traffic, crowds, and all of the waiting around.
This seems to have been the conclusion of most people for our similar event here in TX. "We're so blessed to have seen our prophet in person! Even though I can't recall a single meaningful things he said and it was an overall crowded, busy, miserable evening."
Well, I'm better than dirt! Ah, well... most kinds of dirt; not that fancy store-bought dirt; that stuff is loaded with nutrients. I can't compete with that stuff. -Moe Sizlack

I went to the local meeting house and watched with DW and Kids. Boring, banal, church and prophet worship. DW thanked me for going and suggested I read something interesting on my phone. :D

I guess with the new job and pay raise, they could afford to fill his Viagra prescription.

Thanks for the detailed responses. What a load. Seriously...seems they said absolutely NOTHING. And what the hell is the gathering of Isarael and why should I pray for it? I live in Arizona and if Israel wants to have a gathering/meeting/whatever that is fine but I honestly don't care. I have never understood the tribes of Israel, gathering of Israel nonsense, and I did a study abroad through BYU in Israel.

I am feeling impatient/fed up lately. I have been very quiet about the church, I let my husband talk about it sometimes, and I just listen. I have talked about things in the past, JS/racism/YW and YM inequality/the church mismanaging the Lord's funds, etc. But lately I have been pretty silent. He isn't a full on Peter Priesthood so it's not like he pushes daily BOM study or anything. But my husband is the only person in our family left who believes, and I'm tired of feeling like we have to do any of mormonism at all to please him. He has been pushing mormonism hard with my kids who are still home, but they aren't buying it. And he said some awful things to my boys around Christmas like he wouldn't have married me if he knew I would leave the church. They cried when they told me. So yes, I am fed up.

I want to say: Can you tell me how you know Russ is a prophet? What has he said/done to make you believe he is? Other than inheriting the title because Monson died? We have prophets in the bible, like Moses leading thousands of people out of slavery, others healing the sick, others seeing the future, etc etc. What has Russ done? And while we're on the subject, let me tell you why I DON'T think he's a prophet. Have you heard about his semi recent visit to Africa where he told everyone to pay tithing and how that would end their cycle of poverty? The head GAs get like 130k a year, health insurance, travel, BYU for their families, etc etc. And they don't have kids at home to feed and take care of! But instead of going to Africa and building a water facility, hospitals, job training center or maybe a school.....they just want their money. Yes, they should help pay for malls and GA salaries, and land in Florida. Couldn't he have mentioned the Perpetual Education Fund and said they could use it to train for meaningful employement? Or did they discontinue that program to pay for some more condos?

I feel ready to say that.
