Humor to Soften Truth

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

This is very similar to lying to lessen the blow and then admitting the truth. Ie. jR Holland lying on the bbc interview.

I suppose some like Jeffrey take the truth to be hard?

Someone posted this & cracked me up..:

“When I was investigating the Church, a member told me "A good way to get insight from God is to ask a question, let your Scriptures fall open and point to a random verse and read it. "

I really hadn't heard that before or since, but I tried it. " Is the Mormon Church 'True'"

15 ¶ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

I wonder if I should've paid attention...”

Close your eyes (just for a second because you need to read this)... and imagine...

You’re among other Mormons. Someone says a prayer, then someone leads everyone in singing. People take turns talking. Sounds familiar? Except picture everyone naked and in water.

Now open your eyes (wider ;) ) and realize that wasn’t just your imagination. You are officially invited to an actual group called, “LDS Skinny Dippers” - addressing porn directly - no more beating around the bush! :D

Hahahaha. Beating around the bush.

I wonder what my 90+ year old father would say to this site? He won't even wear short sleeves.

This reminds me of a returned missionary speaking in sacrament meeting. He had a companion that was really difficult to live with, so he did that and got 1 Nephi 4:12

Believe in the God who created us. And the God you created should be abolished.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

:D
At 90+, what are the chances of seeing the light? Actually, even at 50, I’d say people tend to be less open to change and other possibilities.

Well, if God told him to do it.... ;) :D

Occasionally, when I’m puzzled about something and really need help in considering other ways of looking at things, I do rune cards. If many TBMs knew I used any type of “divination” tool, they’d look down on me. And yet, they engage in their own divination method of bibliomancy. Sadly, my sister has used it to decide to split and break the hearts of her many children.

I've used tarot cards. There are a lot of "fluffy" ones out there, but I came across a deck that was frighteningly accurate.

In “Everybody Loves Raymond” Ray sees something unusual and nobody believes him. They continue on, oblivious & even blame Ray for even suggesting something so strange... but eventually, it is realized Ray was telling the truth.
She’s the one... “the one true church”... or not.

;) Some might see the insanity in that.
If it wasn’t jam packed with inquisition and crusade type threatening tradition, who would come up with that??

On top of that, interpreting literally is popular.

I remembered how I LOL'd at this scene when I was TBM.

Some people just can't talk about religion.
