There are still comments here, though not the same publication.

The Saints are going to miss Trump.

Maybe the Choir at Temple Square could sing him the So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye song from the Sound of Music as the United States Marshals Service escorts him from the White House grounds, after he refuses to leave.

Okay, so there are just SO MANY gems to choose from, I'll just give a brief taste of some of the comments on the church's site. And a general comment; most are pretty short, and I've corrected some for grammar and spelling. It's really odd how QAnon people can't spell. By far the one that made me laugh most of all was the one where the commenter, in a spasm of ranting nonsense, accused the brethren of following the "stubbleness" of men. Are they growing beards now? In any event, here we go:

"This election was stolen! I go against my church on this."

"How can the church congratulate someone who believes in abortion and gay marriage?"

"My favorite part of the Book of Mormon is when Captain Moroni instructed the church to concede to Amalickiah."

"Congrats to Biden and Harris for hastening the second coming. Abortion, same sex marriage, socialism and communism - all of the devil."

"This is not about politics anymore this is the war of good and evil."

"Gadianton robbers, Biden and Harris."

"I will never pray for them. Trump should have won if all corruption was dug out."

"The church should have waited. This is disgusting how they jumped on the bandwagon so quickly."

"I'm deeply disappointed that there is no effort to stand up to the corruption. The LDS church is becoming more liberal all the time."

"I never realized the church supported abortion. God have mercy."

"I'm not happy!!! We will live under tyranny!!! Jesus is my only hope now!!!!!!!!" (I love the exclamation points. I really felt her pain that way.)

By far the best exchange I read, is where one dude says this, and it's classic: "The 'when the prophet speaks the debate is over' crowd sure seems to be singing a different tune lately." To which a woman replied, "When the prophet speaks on spiritual matters, the debate is over. But they need to keep out of politics!" And the first guy, literally quotes ol' ET Benson's 14 fundamentals in response to this person, "But, the prophet can receive revelation on any matter - temporal or spiritual - the prophet may well advise on civic matters." Mic drop, extraordinaire.

That's just a taste, for those who can't see the comments.
Thanks for the highlight reel.

The church has spent so much time fighting feminists, LGBTQIA+ and intellectuals, I wonder if they have any idea how to deal with the QAnon crowd?

"Deal with?" Sometimes it feels like they *are* the QAnon crowd.

Prediction: Trump will have a hard fall from glory and alt-right Mormons are going to struggle to find another pseudo prophet to adore.
Why do alt-right Mormons love Trump? The church is very much like Trump.
1) Trump is pathological liar = the church has lied to members forever and the alt-right is used to it.
2) Trump is a clinical narcissist = the church is too and that is what the alt-right has grown up to like.

It just speaks to that percentage of fundamentalist TBMs who crave drama and their own specialness to be part of something big in "The Last Days". This, in spite if the fact their old boring leaders have backed off the last days narrative...mostly. Elections are a great opportunity to jump on social media and stir up some BS about how the end is near (every time one party or the other takes power). As TSCC's more extreme dogmas/social issues get more and more watered down, hardcore TBM warriors will find it harder to feel relevant. Nothing like a common enemy to stir up nationalistic/tribalistic pride, go team!

I remember when my wife was TBM when Obama was elected, how worried she was and how much she hated him. After Trump got in she was wishing Obama was back! At least he had some decorum and didn't embarrass the nation. IMO the president and parties are not the real power behind the throne, just clowns and jesters keeping most of us preoccupied with their antics. They polarize most of the nation against itself with the two parties to maintain their jobs and keep spending our money. I had a lot of hope for Trump when he got in, that he might stir up the crap in DC enough to break the two party power (since he wasn't a career politician). We saw a stab at it with the Tea Party, but no progress; it's still the same two broken parties. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to my right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8StG4fFWHqg

Anyone calling for a civil war can Foff in my book. It's not perfect but lets enjoy the prosperity we have; it's never been better than it is now, in spite of all the virus crap. All the important numbers continue to trend to the positive for humanity. Global capitalism/consumerism is likely to expand to a point of collapse and eat itself, it's certainly not sustainable over the long haul without some big changes, but it is what it is right now. So grab a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the show. More cow bell!!!

1) Trump is pathological liar = the church has lied to members forever and the alt-right is used to it.
2) Trump is a clinical narcissist = the church is too and that is what the alt-right has grown up to like.
3) The alt-right is racist and the church has not faced up to its own racism.
4) the alt-right is homophobic and the church is homophobic.
5) the alt-right is misogynistic and so is the church.
6) the alright is anti abortion under any circumstances and most alt-fighters have this magical “God won’t let a rape victim get pregnant.” And “God won’t let a pregnant woman die if she has faith to go through with the pregnancy.” And Mormons don’t realize that the church makes several exceptions with abortion.
7) the church has taught them that stuff that makes you feel warm and fuzzy is true. The conspiracy theories work because they are telling people what they want to hear.
8) the church is anti intellectual and Trump pretends that it is educated people who are the “elite” and not the supper wealthy of whom he is one, so his anti “elite” campaign fits right in with their anti science church taught “the intellectuals are one of the three enemies of the church” Packerisms. There is a REASON educated people are more liberal and it isn’t lack of faith.
9) Trump reminds people of the narcissistic Joseph Smith, so he must be a prophet.

I dunno, they seem to have the same impenetrable testimony for him that they have for Brother Joseph.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

I agree Hagoth. When trump is gone, who will be the alt-right leader? Trump only cares about the politics that puts more money in his own pocket. Covid hasn’t made him money, so he cares little about it. China competes for his money, so he hates China. I don’t think the alt-right are bedfellows with Trump because he is rich, they are because he is selfish and cares only about himself and business interests that make him rich. Some of these business interests align with the alt-right. The alt-right rancher needs land and independence. Cares less about health insurance. Trump likes land and independence, too. The guy that works in a cubicle for the DMV, may not need acres of land, but really wants to ensure his family has access to healthcare....

When Isildur cut the ring off the hand of Sauron, most people thought things would be fine. However, the will toward fascism remains buried in the hearts of his followers and it will arise again. From either Red Square, Allenwood Federal Correctional Facility, or one of the Country Clubs, the Eye of Trump will be seen.
