Communicating and the risk of being misunderstood

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

Communicating and the risk of being misunderstood

Post by deacon blues » Sun Jan 10, 2021 10:39 am

I really appreciate the support I've received here. You are good people. I watch some people on TV being unkind, insulting others in public, etc.

When we communicate we need to take responsibility for being misunderstood. This means we should consider our words before we speak them. Especially those in high profile or powerful positions. We have recently seen examples of this. :o OK, I'm stating the obvious. :o I appreciate that NOM's are careful with their comments. I just want to say let's not overreact to the crazies. As Kipling would say: "keep your head when those around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you." 8-) ;) God/Mother Nature bless us every one. :D

I almost want to erase this preachy post, I apologize for getting preachy. You guys are already cool. 8-)
In fact I should probably go to Church with my wife and share this in a testimony meeting.

An important message my deacon dude!

My emotions have been all across the spectrum lately. I’ve found peace in focusing on my own energy and health. There’s a lot to be outraged at but your message should be taken to heart by everyone.

Peace, love, and humor will endure.

Amen!

I agree. I also appreciate the grace extended by those here when I don't quite word things properly. I have a tendency to write and rewrite trying to think about every possible interpretation. I am so glad that I can make small errors and get the chance to better express myself. It's a difficult time to have conversations.

I don't feel preached at, by the way.

I don't word well. I do regret engaging where I should have just stayed quiet. I always have to remind myself that text lacks feeling and it's common to project our own feelings on someone else's thoughts. So anyway...

What’s with all the anger, frustration, and annoyance, hmb?

Whether a curelom or cumom, it speaks volumes of the restored gospel.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
