NOMference Sunday afternoon Fall 2021

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

I can relate to "torturous sleepless nights". Addressing those in pain is a great recognition.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

I'm sorry to hear that Senor Penguin...I read you here and on a few other boards. I have to say thank you for all of the comments you share at all hours, as they seem to always find a way to keep me smiling. Best wishes to you.

If all we have to offer to people who are suffering is "don't worry, everything will be better when you're dead" then we have NOTHING TO OFFER PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING.

Oh man, I feel you. The medication I take for my insomnia literally also prevents me from sleeping (I wish I was kidding). Also, my husband has a CPAP and still snores. It feels like a sick joke at this point.

+5 for "daughters and sons"

I'm really interested in this story from a data point of view (I'm a math teacher with a background in science). I'll have to go down the rabbit hole later.

Probably the cyclists just needed to start doping.

Sorry, I'll be less cynical tomorrow.

Five pages a day is still WAY too much Book of Mormon.

Why does god want or need us to suffer at all? I don’t find it necessary to make my kids needlessly suffer. If that’s how god rolls, then I do t want to be like him or want to ever be with him again. Makes sense for me once I came to the conclusion that religion is all made up. Like John Larsen said, the church takes away what is good about you, including your strength to over come challenges, and then sells them back to you in a Jesus/church wrapper.
The church has engineered your eternal family into a commodity that can be purchased with an annual fee. The fact that full tithing payment is a requirement for saving ordinances is the biggest red flag imaginable. Hagoth

He should have used the daily incremental gain of the Ensign Investment Fund as an example.

Has the quoting of the current living profit gotten worse since Rusty has been the profit? Everyone seems to be kissing his a$$. Was it this bad when Gordy or Tommy were the profit?

This is so true. The church does nothing to empower it's members. In fact they do the opposite.
