Prior to my faith transition, I had never uttered a swear word.

I still have never said one in front of someone else, but I let them out sometimes when I'm by myself. Yep, even the F word.

I listen to whatever music I want to now, and don't get the "clean" versions anymore.

I threw away a pair of garments in a Marriott hotel room garbage can this year. Without cutting out the symbols.

I watch some rated R movies when I go out of town for work, especially if they have them on the plane.

Speaking of which, I confess that I teared up watching the movie Room. I might create a separate post about my experience watching that movie. It was one of those movies that woke me up and changed me in some way.

Well, even though I have resigned, I still feel the Sure Sign of the Sin when I buy or consume anything prohibited. Negative conditioning lasts a long, long while.

- I used to sneak out in the middle hour of the block, go to a nearby store & shop, and return before RS. It was the only way I could handle the three-hour block.

- I now have several large bottles of spirits in my home. However, I usually forget they're there & I rarely drink them. I guess they're primarily signs of liberation (rather than libation).

- Some good friends and I have been trying to plot ways to get their highly placed parents to resign. Or at least find a way to squelch their chances of future promotion.

- I ran into a church friend while browsing the lacy underwear rack in a local store - she nervously said she was picking things out for her daughter, who liked that style and brand. I just smiled.

I recently watched Iliza Shlesinger: Confirmed Kills on Netflix(and I liked it, even if I can't relate to half of it) This is actually the third time she has helped me pass the time washing dishes.
That's a little more fun to report than Earl Grey Tea haha.

I now watch rated R movies by myself without guilt.
Mrs. 2bizE won't watch Rated R, but will watch sexy NR and TV MA with me...ok as long as not rated R.
I don't drink coffee, but fantasize about going to church with a cup of coffee. Maybe I will try out that fantasy with a cup of Pero at church.
I'm a good missionary because any chance I can, I show friends and colleagues how to find the essays on the Gospel library app.
I have not done home teaching in 10 years and have no interest in starting.

I think she's a hell of a lot funnier than Amy Schumer so I can't understand why she's not as mainstream and popular. Maybe it's the relatable part you mentioned above.

I can't relate to half because I never went out drinking with girlfriends and I got married young. Still thinks it funny though and I would think mainstream america can relate just fine 8-) . I think maybe she just needs a little more time.

I bought what I thought was herbal tea. Turns out it's not. Oops. I'm drinking it anyway. And enjoying it.

For the first time I flaunted the WoW by having a cup of jasmine tea today (only other times were unintentional liquor chocolates, and deliberate coffee flavored (knowing they contained the real thing) desserts). It feels weird typing this.

I guess R-rated movies got nerfed for me by Netflix outside of the US having different ratings. I didn't notice much difference besides something closer to an everyday amount of swearing.

I have been scared to sin my whole life. I think my list of thinks to konfess is pretty short for most of my life.

-I started masturbating when I was like 7. I had no idea what it was. I stopped when I was like 10 when I learned what it was. I was mortified. I held that guilt in until a cried to my mission president about it.

-I looked at porn (very soft core) sometimes when I was 16. I completely stopped when I was 17, because I was so ashamed. I had to be a perfect missionary, and that had to be eradicated from my life.

- I went to a Lutheran church when I was in Germany at 16. I wanted to get that part of the culture. I took the sacrament, and surprisingly it was not water in that pitcher. I kept the wine in my mouth for about 15 minutes and then spat it out once I got outside. I was not letting that evil inside my body.

- UNTIL this last Saturday, my wife and I were introduced to alcohol. We were up with some friends until 2 am drinking a lot of of different mixed drinks. It was glorious, and one of our friends made sure to control our alcohol levels so we didn't go overboard. It was my first time trying alcohol, and it will not be my last. I am 35 years old.

I met a friend for lunch and had a glass of wine. It felt deliciously . . . normal.

Ummm... You can't make this stuff up, but...

I was home from school as a 14 year old engaged in "self abuse" under the covers when my dad walked in, sat on the bed, and read the Little Factory talk to me. I was mortified. Now, however...it's hilarious!

I am glad you can laugh about that. How horrible. As a parent of all girls, we have had to discuss this topic with 3 of them so far and we have not taken the little factory approach. I would say we encourage it, but explain that ithe is normal, natural, and not bad in any way.

I like to resurrect old Konfession posts from Kish.

Any news from Kish lately?
I confess that I am scared to move on.
I have been a NOM since at least 2013…
If I mentioned anything to anyone, I would get shut down, so I have hid in my own little cave for a long time.
I feel good that I only attended church twice last year….it was a good year. This pandemic has shown a few tender mercies.

This is great. ok, my turn.
I work on Sundays, and every other day. After 40 hrs, it is 'volunteer' work though, so I can justify it as charity to poor engineering students.
I drink coffee - am not proficient enough to order anything fancy, but I suppose black with nothing in it is probably the most healthy anyways.
Still ff through *scenes* in movies (kids in house)
Am very careful around alcohol as there are alcoholics in my family (Catholics), but did go to one fun bar with work colleagues - an old church that has been re-made into a bar with large yard in back / live music / lots of community events that happen there.
I have a rainbow "safe zone" sticker on my lab/classroom/office - I guess some people would see that as rebellious, but one of my kids is in that boat, and I defend them and their partner - amazing gifted people.
Not a very scintillating list I'm afraid, boring life.

Good to have someone stationed behind enemy lines - never know when someone else over there will need a friendly voice of reason. Fight the good fight.

Kish is doing good. His divorce was finalized a bit ago. He has settled in to his new normal. His daughter continues to have health issues related to her seizures. I’ll see if I can get him to update here.

I’m not so much scared to move on. Just can’t seem to move on without one foot in the church due to family.

If you can find your sweet spot, hold onto it even if it means participating in a limited fashion. We all don’t have to leave the church and become exmo. We can still be whatever works for our individual situations. And that includes continuous change.

Confession for me: I went to a dispensary today to see about getting some edibles. I don't have a medical marijuana card so it was a no-go today. I plan to get my dispensary recommend ASAP and have it renewed before it expires. If the bishop can't sign that recommend I guess I'll have to visit a doctor.

Perhaps even a triple espresso if they make you trace the complete anatomical path of inhalation to the subsequent exhalation. I remember having to do that. Maybe I had the Angel Hiawatha sitting on my shoulder whispering answers.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
