From 15th to 23rd

Post by Dirty Bird »

As progressive Americans force feed the country their Marxist religious ideology, America falls from 15th on the global happiness scale to 23rd for the first time ever.

Progressivism is so simple to understand. Let's compare Progressivism to the strategy of the Mormon church. The Mormon church survives by convincing its members that there's no other organization in the world that has the authority or abundance of information that can save them from a dreadful and unfulfilled mortal life. Mormonism tells its members it is the only way to happiness. In a religion, this kind of fear tactic can work because outside the religion, life can be balanced out by normal day to day activities that have nothing to do with said religion. A Mormon can go to work and never talk to someone about their religious beliefs. They can go to the store, live life as a free American.

But the progressives are attempting to make their religious beliefs not only part of America's way of life that allows one to escape its tentacles when one desires, they are forcing people to accept that Progressivism is the only way to live because all other ideologies are either racist, homophobic, misogynistic, white Supremacy, Transphobic and so on and so on. They are forcing people through fear to accept their beliefs or face being labeled an outsider, racist or pick your label. Their goal is to force people to be happy with their Marxist lifestyle or you're going to regret being outside the progressive influence and lifestyle. Unlike Mormonism, Progressivism is attempting to marry religion and politics so there's only one absolute, only one correct way to live, they don't want people to be able to find anywhere to escape the influence of Progressivism. Their forcing mental slavery upon American citizens in an attempt to wipe out any competition of thought. Their beliefs are anti freedom. Anti woman. Anti everything. And it's making Americans depressed and unhappy. The scary part is, it's becoming so invasive in our youth, that sooner than later, people are going start thinking that the only way Americans can be happy again is by wiping out anyone or any group that opposes the progressive ideology. That's exactly how dictatorships are formed.

needed to be said.

Now do Bias Bias Blind Spot. That also need's to be said. Also, we should address The Bias Blind Spot Ban. If our group has a bias blind spot, we should emphatically reject any identification of that blind spot except to reject that we have neither a bias bias blind spot nor a bias blind spot bias.

I think your graphic is perfect for this conversation, for what that is worth. The OP is correct, and your supplement to the opinion and position of DB applies to the progressive bias as well as the isolated religious bias. They both rely extensively on pointing at others' biases and acknowledging none of one's own. As I read the OP, he compared exactly what you highlighted with an image.

I sometimes feel lucky to have grown up in the era I did. Aside from the obvious (not living in a war zone or subject to starvation, etc.), it seems like kids had a lot more unsupervised play in the recent past than they do now.

And how would my life have been different had I carried a mobile phone around starting at whatever age? Would I have stared at it half the day instead of riding my bike or playing with friends or learning how to work? Who knows.

Probably also doesn't help to grow up around talk of constant impending doom due to climate change, how dire the future will look if the wrong politician gets elected, etc. And the message is that you need to worry about these things constantly even though there's nothing you can do about them.

Jonathan Haidt has a new book about to come out that seems to talk about this very phenomenon, though it looks like rather than "happiness" it focuses on the rise in mental illness diagnoses.

The best of times, the worst of times. For my kids, yes one was hanging with friends on video game tonight *similar to looong phone conversations when I was young*. Other kid went out with friends to gymn, they have jobs, school, it's not all bad.

Last weekend we celebrated Easter with kids friends family. Our youngest started hanging out with older guy from work, it made me nervous, he saw I was protective/nervous so invited us all over for dinner - lovely evening, good food, good people. I think everyone is getting better at dealing with - people like me - people who get triggered. I got a hug from him at end of evening. Anyways, nice to live during a time where everyone recognizes situations and reacts in healthy ways.

The five happiest countries in the world Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Israel are way more progressive on social issues than the United States. The opening post was trying to sell you a bogus bill of goods.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Hmm. The US also ranks dead last among developed countries in quality, accessibility, and affordability of healthcare. Also dead last on wealth equity, and it's rapidly getting worse. All of those happier countries also provide healthcare to all citizens in a way that American Conservatives deride as socialism. So they blame liberals for causing the problem AND for offering solutions.

Since the whole discussion of happiness is based on the Gallup poll, it is interesting that that pole is getting criticism in that it is inherently flawed. According to one study, the way it is worded would favor someone who is better off financially, not necessarily happy with friends and family. It asks if people are "living their best life". Something that people usually refer to as a financial question, not a mental status question. So a country with a closer economic divide would naturally score better on this poll.

The study suggests that simple rewording to focus more on happiness and not finances would produce different results.
