Dear President Nelson,
You have recently been giving nonstop warnings that Jesus is about to return any moment now. This is exciting news, but it leaves us in a bit of a quandary. Latter-Day Saints have been hearing this message for about 200 years now, and it has been an impending event for the over 2000 years for Christians in general.
My concern is that you may not be with us much longer, and since you seem to have inside information, I would like to respectfully request that you give us just a little bit more information. I understand that no man knows the time and day, but you, being the mouthpiece of God, must certainly have a bit higher resolution on this important timeline. Will it happen in your lifetime? Sometime in the next decade? Or should we go back to our standard holding pattern and accept that it might not be for another 200 years?
If God truly wants us to be prepared, and if you are his message delivery device, please tell us something beyond the Santa Clause is Comin' to Town fear mongering.
Thank you,
A Concerned Saint

I seem to recall a letter Parley Pratt wrote to Joseph Smith, essentially saying: Joseph could you be more specific about when the world is going to end?
I just can't find it as I write this. I'm certain it has been a topic for discussion throughout Church history.

God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.

Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

Re: Urgent Request for Russel M. Nelson
We are all familiar with Prophets insisting that Christ will come again. But since President Nelson is upping his "He's Coming" game while he happens to be on deaths door could it just be as simple Christ is coming for him and it will happen soon. Might be a bit of a stretch but Religion at times combines the roles of its deitys. And Death comes for us all. Perhaps since President Nelson is a "short timer" he has taken comfort in calling Death Christ instead. In that case Christ will eventually come again for us all. In the end the messaging really doesn't change. If Christ was eventually coming for us we want to get our affairs in order for that day. Could be just as simple as that. Christ/Death comes for us all.Hagoth wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 7:48 am Dear President Nelson,

I'm being fecisious of course. I don't really think he believes Death is Christ. But Death is coming for him...so whatever false hope he trumps up on deaths door is of no consequence to him. He'll let his successors deal with that.
Re: Urgent Request for Russel M. Nelson
I just did the math. Jesus is coming no sooner than 2061.
I come to that number by dividing the approximate number of announced but unbuilt temples (approx. 185 IIRC), by the number of temples that get build each year (approx. 5). We have been told that the new rush to announce temples is to prepare for the Second Coming. To make that date happen sooner we have to either stop announcing new temples or increase the rate at which they are being built. If we double the rate of temple building and the next prophet reduces the number of annual announcements by half, that doesn't affect that date. The church would have to make a historically unprecedented engineering project appear out of thin air to get anywhere close to the timeframe that Pres. Nelson seems to be hinting at.
Of course, the temples could be built during the Millennium, but that would make a lie of their insistence that the ramping up of temple announcements is an essential final push for The Savior's arrival.
