It's not paranoia if they are really out to get you.

I'm already out with anybody that matters to me long-term. I emailed my parents a few days after telling my wife and immediately after telling our kids. I came out publicly on FB, so most of the ward members know too.
For the years that I spent without a testimony and serving as a counselor in YM and as an EQP though, I completely understand where you're coming from. I couldn't even admit to myself until close to the end that I didn't believe. I knew I was doubting, but refused to examine how deep my doubts went. I certainly didn't want my wife and kids to know because their salvation depended upon mine, I thought.
I have friends that are out but still attend with a spouse because they can't tell their parent(s). I completely understand and I would never hope that someone is outed before they're ready to do it on their own terms. I just don't care if someone outs me - mostly because I've already outed myself.

I could care less. Facebook spies on you. Google, your ISP, Even immigration scours the social media posts of would-be tourists to the USA and others. Heck your boss logs your site visits. So no surprise that the Church would have a vested interest in getting eyes and ears online to see what people are up to so it can counter. Guys it's just a business with a strong legal arm and talking heads. Nothing more. The dumbest thing people do is to use their real names on social media and other digital outlets. If you use your real photo, there is face recognition software such as the one used by Facebook.

You might be wary of any Facebook requests from people with a middle initial in their name.
