This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.
Actually unsure how to feel about this talk. On the one hand, he recognises that life is unfair for people and covid has been really bad for the marginalised. On the other hand, just saying Jesus will help you out is not quite a solution.
"And I don't need you...or, your homespun philosophies."
"And when you try to break my spirit, it won't work, because there's nothing left to break."

+10 for Jesus fixes unfairness
-100 for the Church of Jesus sitting on $100+ billion and making more money during a pandemic
Well, you know, he'll fix unfairness later.
Anything the church could do something about is something Jesus will fix later. Just gotta have that convenient eternal perspective. Viva la afterlife!

It's what a person in power says to prevent the unprivileged from staging a revolt. Jesus will give you a reward and punish the people in power in the next life. Jesus fixes all your problems so don't rock the boat, be obedient, and don't press for change.
We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.

I am also not sure about this talk. It is good to say that Christ will fix all unfairness. If you can see this as part of the atonement, it is good. But just saying it isn’t enough. We humans need to be actively involved in undoing the damage of unfairness and not leave it to Jesus. Make sure this isn’t just “thoughts and prayers” and not doing a thing yourself to fix things.

Yes. This kind of preaching was used to keep the slaves patient with slavery.
+10 for not throwing stones
+20 for catching stones
-30 for insinuating unfairness is fixed by church myopic Jesus glasses and glossing over the story where the man needed financial help and appealed to his church congregation. We get that this wasn't out church, but... We understand he's gonna have a better chance at another church.
