I hope what Pres. Nelson is really doing is looking at all of the policies and traditions that are just that and examining if they can be changes to better accommodate the church. The church has been mired in old traditions that suck the life out of church members. I hope the trend continues.

I hope he is. I suspect that he has a better idea of what is needed to keep members coming to church than many of his predecessors.

The pace of progress is so slow, though. We are told it's a miracle that women can go on missions at 19 and girls can witness baptisms. These are not miracles. We have fed so long on bread and water that we think Twinkies are gourmet food.

I am confident that Oaks will drag the church down if he becomes top dog. He is too polarized. People either love him or really hate him. He is like BKP x 10. Every speech he gives is picking a fight.

But once Oaks starts usin that Seer Stone again, he won't be pickin fights, he will be revealin doktrin.... and then all will conform and make Zion Great Again.

My sister in law loves Oaks, but then she also loves tRump, so there is that.

But, on Nelson and his changes, it seems that he has been following the feminist blogs, because all except using the word “Mormon,” are things that have been discussed on the feminist blogs for years. Ordain Women had a letter writing campaign to allow women to be witnesses to baptisms and temple sealings. And if he or his COB spies are following the feminist blogs, then they have also noticed a huge tendency from “faithfully agitating” to voting with their feet. FMH no longer even discusses feminist issues and is near dead. About 1/2 of commenters on Exponent2 are no longer attending members, even many of the regular posters have unofficially or even officially left the church. So, if they are spying on the feminist blogs, they have a good list of needed changes short of ordaining women and they can see good reason for making those changes.

I mean, if he wants to keep more people in the church, he can’t change the history. He has to move slowly on doctrine and move slowly on LGBT issues...um, or fire Oaks. He even has to move slowly on ordaining women. But all the changes short of priesthood that women have been asking for are doable.

If they got wise, they could start selling Seer Stones! My goodness how many millions would purchase?! at $59.95 a piece, that's a nice little pocket of dough to fly around the world and visit folks with.
