I share my techniques for researching interesting topics. Since I am working on tree symbolism, this little ditty subset involving the Tree of Life is fascinating! ENJOY....

Will the Tree of Knowledge represent the evolutionary trek to sentience for the human race and the fruit as that symbolic sparking event that elevated thinking over instinct?

Kerry, very interesting video. I'm looking forward to your paper.
Are you familiar with Simo Parpola's work relating the Sefirotic tree to the Assyrian Tree of Life and the Mesopotamian pantheon? Fascinating stuff. This has nothing to do with the flaming sword, but directly relates to your tree research. Here's a link to it:

And here's a brief paper I wrote about the symbolic application and meaning of that tree in the throneroom of Ashurnasirpal. It goes off on a tangent about how the tree might originate in innate cognitive patters, but it's all fun stuff.

Lately I have been wondering if the trees of Eden might have symbolic meanings relating to Mesopotamian deities, as a further extension of Parpola's insights, which is something you seem to be hinting at.

Very interesting. Too bad Joseph didn't try and go into the history of flaming swords when he was threatened with one during various plural marriage invitation.

Yes, and that Assyrian Tree is most definitely on my agenda for putting together more tree symbolism! It is one of the most intriguing articles I have ever read on the Tree.... along with Coomaraswamy's Inverted Tree. Thanks for the feedbacks. I have a lot more coming our shortly.

Excellent paper! Did you do that for a school assignment or something? Very interesting research, which adds perfectly to Parapolo's Assyrian Tree materials. I'm impressed Hagoth! Do you have more papers you have written that we can read?

Aw, next you'll be telling us that there was only one cricket that got eaten by seagulls. Now that I think about it though, that would explain why that cigar store Indian that Brigham Young carved never got to become a real boy.

I retired a bit early and went back to school. I wrote that paper for a Symbolic Anthropology class last semester. My other papers deal with stuff like Drone Survey Archaeology, Mesoamerican Archaeology, and Public History that probably aren't particularly interesting to anyone.
