I haven't been following GC at all. What's going on? Was this logo part of the special announcement for this "unprecedented" GC?

If so, aren't some TBM's really struggling with the substance coming from SLC right now??? I just can't imagine myself as a TBM and taking all this in w/o some head scratching...

Now the ward is going to want this logo on the scout trailer.

Updated Udated New Church Logo

This is going to be the logo on a million YM Camp, YW Camp, and Stake Trek T-shirts this summer. Consider how you will need to politely and firmly turn down this T-shirt offered with a plate of cookies later this year.

Desperate for everyone to think that their church is Jesus's church.

Making the name bigger name wasn't enough, people! Making the word "Mormon" into a swear didn't work! What now? Let's put a picture of Jesus in the logo!

From their own scriptures:

... if it be called in my name then it is my church, if it so be that they are built upon my gospel.

Hmm. Maybe they should focus more on building the church on the gospel. All this focus on the name isn't going to fix the idolatry.

Since the new logo is far too detailed to be used in an app logo, newspaper printing, etc., we're likely going to see the silhouette version a lot. I don't think it works out too well, but what do I know, I'm not a prophet-seer-revelator-graphic-designer.

That was my immediate impression too. This lacks not only prophetic vision, but also art direction. I have a feeling that it was entirely art directed by Nelson. "I said I want MORE detail." It is Mormonisms Jar Jar Binks.

That's exactly what I thought after seeing the logo. As an amateur screen printer this logo is not going to print well when the number of colors is limited. Most logos these days are simple designs with few colors.

My husband likes to insist that Jesus wears LDS temple garments. Ummm he sure isn't in that image.

This new logo beats the CTR symbol, but in silhouette, it is not as recognizable as the Moroni statue.
