Today on NPR I heard this Radio West episode about a new book about the process Spencer W. Kimball went through to receive the revelation allowing black men to hold the priesthood. If I were a believer, this would devastate my faith.

I am interested to hear your reactions to it.

Hearing of how Kimball had to bring up the issue in the Q12 meeting when two of the racist apostles were out of town makes me realize how risky it is for church members to outsource their consciences and sense of right and wrong to a group of 15 old men who have limited perspectives and a lot of serious blind spots due to their social position.

I see there’s a part 1 of the program, which I haven’t heard yet.

I listened to both episodes. Very informative.

Mrs. Hagoth heard one of them and was pretty pissed with the church.

I read the book, but the interviews add fascinating details to the narrative of.... the "Rest of the Story," as Paul Harvey used to say.
Hmm, mentioning Paul Harvey is a giveaway that I'm darned old. :D
