The lovely Mrs. Hagoth and I just got back from a couple of weeks in Greece. We visited many ruins and many museums and were overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of material cultural these people left behind, from which archeologists and historians can sleuth the tiniest details of their lives.

Every significant civilization on the planet left behind untold thousands upon thousands of artifacts that are unique to their culture. Every civilization, that is, except the Nephites, Lamanites, Mulekites, and Jaredites. All of them together left a sum total of exactly ZERO unique artifacts that can be attributed to their existence.

Same as Oompa Loompas. The logical conclusion is that they were just as real as Oompa Loompas.

Hmm.

I find it interesting that we found the site of Troy, the city from the Homer's The Illiad. We don't know if there really was a giant wooden horse, but we know where the city was.

For the BOM, a book supposed not even as old as The Illiand, we sure don't have any evidence of anything that it talked about.

I also like to compare Book of Mormon evidence to the L’anse Aux Meadows Viking settlement in Newfoundland. A handful of Norsemen about the size of Lehi’s party settled briefly in North America and left more evidence of their existence, than all of the BoM peoples, even though they were there only a few years. The colony reached a population of no more than 100 people living in eight longhouses and left many clues about who they were and how they lived, down to everyday items like clothing pins and spindle whorls, that are uniquely Norse. Compare this to zero definitive evidence for all of the Book of Mormon populations combined. We can even see where these Viking settlers built a small forge and made a few hundred nails to repair their ship. So where are the forges that made all of those BoM swords, shields, etc. not to mention the swords and shields themselves?

Apologists tell us that kind of evidence would have entirely vanished due to rust and decay, but the Viking discoveries and other well preserved antiquities like the recent discovery of 7000-year old sharpened wooden spears in Florida (National Geographic News, Feb. 28, 2018) toss those claims out the window. And if that isn't enough, they even found the remains of Norse rats at L’anse Aux Meadows. You can’t help but wonder why the Norse rat left ample DNA evidence while the cattle, pigs, sheep, and other Book of Mormon animals vanished entirely without a trace.
