This is another example of how polygamy deniers are dang close to reality, at least that is how I see it. Check this podcast out.

Dear Chronos there goes 23 minutes I'll never get back. Here's the TLDR: "My apologetic gymnastics are better than all other apologetic gymnastics. Neener neener neener!!!"

At least Captain MORmON admitted, and I quote: "We're not studying history to find the truth." That's one of the best definitions of apologetics I've heard.

I don’t do podcasts and don’t want to waste time, so if they actually said anything new, somebody needs to do a TLDlisten on it.

But my experience with past deniers is that they just blame it on Brigham Young instead. So, really deniers are just saying that there is absolutely no justification or excuse for dragging polygamy kicking and screaming into Christianity. Because there IS no justification for polygamy and they are smart enough to see that polygamy hurts women and children. So, since there is no way to justify it and they cannot bring themselves to admit that Joseph Smith was too stupid to keep his pants buttoned up, they pretend he was innocent. You know, kind of like tRump supporters are doing with the evidence from all the women who have testified that tRump raped them. Just pretend it doesn’t exist. If you cannot believe the obvious truth, then just don’t believe it. Simple really. They won’t throw Joseph Smith under the bus, so they throw the next guy in line under the bus. “Brigham Young did it.” I am only surprised that tRump supporters haven’t come up with the idea that JD Vance really is the one who was best buddies with Epstein. See, If JD was really best buddies with Epstein, then of course tRump had some association with him. I mean, they already tried it with Hillary, “Hillary is part of a pedophile ring”. Didn’t fly, so they need a new person to blame it all on.

Thanks Fluffy and alas for the perfect responses. I learned a new idea- TDLR
Sometimes I get overly excited over little things. And then I blow them out of proportion. :?
The thing that sparked me was where the guy actually laid opposing perspectives, which is rare in religious & political debates. He posted as one of the possibilities that Joseph Smith was all BS, and I just thought: "He typed it, why doesn't he see it. Damn, he's so close."
Upon reflection, the dude obviously is not weighing all options (God revealed polygamy, Joseph made it up, Brigham made it up) the same.
His chosen option is to blame it on Brigham.

Yes, this is what I have noticed. They just cannot quite go to “Joseph made it up” or “Joseph was a fallen prophet” when he brought about polygamy. So, they throw Brigham under the bus and then fail to go, “maybe I am in the wrong church.” It is really funny/pathetic that they blame this evil thing on Brigham Young, then stay with the church Brigham founded. They should be looking for the true church among the Strangites or Emma-ites (I can call the ones who followed Emma Smith Emma-ites, can’t I?) those people were willing to say, “Joseph Smith didn’t start polygamy” back when it mattered. But now, if you are mainline Mormon saying that…well, you are in the wrong church, because we followed that evil guy who started polygamy to Utah.

But they are so close to correct that it is sad and funny at the same time. They want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to have their prophet Brigham Young and throw him under the bus too. I told one that once and he still didn’t get it that he is STILL following this “false prophet” Brigham Young. He fell off the high bar doing his mental gymnastics. When I told him That, he got mad.
