Re: Another Holy Ghost?

I'll give my dogmatic opinion: 1. Because they don't really talk to God. They talk to their biases. 2. Any revelation about the H.G. would mess with some TBM's biases. 3. the Holy Ghost is perhaps the ultimate example of Jello. He/It can't be nailed down. It's too amorphous, indeterminant, etc. But ...

Re: Biggest changes in the church in your lifetime

The exclusionist LDS bathroom policy is just so ridiculous. Especially when compared to the lack of concern about pedophiles, as shown by LDS policy. Some of the oldest GA's still have a Boyd Packer mindset. Maybe because they rubbed shoulders and minds with Packer for all those years. Old prejudice ...

Mountain Meadows Massacre 9/11

We must not forget Utah's very own 9/11 tragedy, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which occurred 168 years ago.

Is evil speaking of the Lord's anointed worse than lying?

Richard Van Wagoner said: "when evil speaking of the Lord's anointed is considered worse than lying the truth suffers."

Re: forced labour

Yes, the LDS church has to varying degrees used coercive methods to achieve their goals.
I especially am thinking of the "Reformation" period of 1856-58 which was capped off by the Mormon War and the Mountain Meadows Massacre.

Christian and LDS hypocrisy

Since the founding of the United States of America it has been clear that the political system breeds abuse of power and hypocrisy on both sides of the political spectrum. Just as a trial requires a balanced prosecution and defense, our political system requires a balance of power to protect our ...

Priesthood Ban. Then: God has spoken: Book of Moses, Book of Abraham, 1852, 1947, 1971.
Now: Might have been Joseph, Brigham, George Albert Smith, Harold B. Lee, and others following society and its traditions.

I could spend hours discussing this.

Re: Make Lying Un-American.... Again?

Sorry to post this in the wrong category. Feel free to move it. Make America Good Again is a better motto. Maybe a purple hat- purple being red and blue combined would be an appropriate color. Just This Guy and Nibbler analyze the problems very well too. Thanks. 😊

Make Lying Un-American.... Again?

I've been reflecting on political scene again, and came up with a prospective political credo. "Make Lying Un-American Again." :D But when I break it down it is discouraging. "Again" is unrealistic- when was lying ever Un-american? Am I being too negative? "Lying" is.... realistic? Can we ...

Re: The LDS Church as a judge, the Judge?

I'm am impressed with the overwhelming love experienced by many NDE recipients. The Bible says "God is love" and "Charity never fails." Love is something worth exercising faith in, in my opinion. :D And, in the words of John Lennon: "Whatever gets you through the night.... is all right." 8-)

Re: Priesthood Power

I think if the Mormon church leaders really believed, they would promote a study of priesthood blessings with confidence that the results would be faith-promoting. But they haven't, as far as we know. :? As we all "know," the blessings depend on the faith of the giver and the receiver of the ...

Re: The LDS Church as a judge, the Judge?

I have always been intrigued by NDEs, but I'm not an expert by any means. I've never had one. I understand that some of them could be legitimate. To totally deny that seems unrealistic. Was it Voltaire who said, "Certainty is ridiculous?" :D I can see that a shared NDE is unlikely, though not ...

I think many MAGA people are like a defendant who knows he's guilty, but want a lawyer who will save them from jail, so they get a crooked lawyer to represent them.

Re: The LDS Church as a judge, the Judge?

I want to reply to Pale Rider, even if it is much later. I believe NDE's are subjective because they aren't shared. They have common characteristics, but they are all singular, individual experiences. I listened to Jeff Holland's NDE, and it seems very subjective. He's just saying the same old s#*!.

Kings in America

One of the many ironies of contemporary American life is that many people, possibly as many as 70 million :o , actually want a king; in the form of a single executive power that overrules any legislative or judicial power, or even constitutional power. Many of these same people would claim as holy ...

Lee wrote from his @BasedMikeLee account: “This is what happens when Marxists don’t get their way.” Then a half hour later, in a tone that has been interpreted across the internet as mocking, he again shared the image with the message: “Nightmare on Waltz [sic] Street.” It appeared to falsely link th ...
