Re: The WORDS of Jesus...

After a facetime chat with my TBM sisters I'll add this: The words of Jesus that have influenced my life the most are The Mote and Beam parable. When I see posts on line that I disagree with, I consider my own foibles, and sometimes I just post "Mote and Beam." If a Christian reads it they should ...

Re: My Country/Church- Right or Wrong! the price of Loyalty.

I tend to agree with the comments above. I likely have more effect on bad Church policies being outside the bubble than within. I still haven't resigned, so I can't say I am really out I guess. :?

How do LDS leaders handle power?

I like to ponder on this: The full quotation is usually given as, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." In reality, Lincoln never uttered or wrote those words, or words to that effect. Rather, they were said about him. The original version ...

Re: The scary transgender threat

Yeah, but the ISSUE is worth billyuns and billyuns in political capital. That's the real issue. Personally, I wouldn't want my daughter wrestling against a boy, but if she really wants to I won't stop her. Sports are just an escape from reality anyway, until they're not. I hope this post gets ...

Re: Come Along With Me - Second Arrow

What a great idea! And a great title. I wish the Church the "Come Along With Me" instead of presuming a divine mandate & complete obedience with the "Come Follow Me" title. Would you mind if I adopted your idea? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. :D

My Country/Church- Right or Wrong! the price of Loyalty.

I came across this old saying this morning and applying in our current political climate made me see it in a new light. An AI explanation came up that said: "some people justify this view, believing it is better to work to improve an institution from within. That made me think about the Church ...

Re: The WORDS of Jesus...

Excellent Point, Hagoth. The New Testament gives us Paul's sermon on Faith, Hope, and Charity in 1st Corinthians 13. What does that mean to Christian fundamentalists? Christian nationalists? DesNats? Do we even have just plain Christians anymore?

I agree. It would be interesting to learn about the tax referred to in the New Testament.

Re: The WORDS of Jesus...

Here's a thought that would probably crash and burn in most Sunday School Classes around the world. Matthew 5:13 The issue of salt losing its flavour is somewhat problematic. Salt itself, sodium chloride (NaCl), is extremely stable and cannot lose its flavour. France notes that Jesus was giving a ...

The WORDS of Jesus...

People, even Christians, will dispute Jesus and his role for humanity. Is he a brother? a father? a wise teacher" a Savior? a fraud? a myth? Jesus never left an indisputable first person record, a " I'm telling and/or writing you this" type of record- Unless you accept the D&C, which I still study ...

Re: Visions

Comparing earth life to leaving home for college is a theme I often heard, especially while attending BYU. Visions, revelations, and other other worldly experiences spoiled this idea for me. At college students have equal access to teachers and knowledge, while in the "Plan of Salvation" we were ...

Stories/Myths grow in the telling. an example from my family is my dad telling me a guy with a welder showed up on a lonely country road and helped him fix his plow. the story has been retold by other family members as a possible 3 Nephites story. But I never heard my Dad say anything about the ...

Re: How do we know the Church has repented?

TBM's and GA's would consider protecting their financial interests a legitimate reason to not apologize or repent. It's a great example of "lying for the Lord." Using that excuse lets the Church ease into a 'we're only human' stance. But when they want to play God, when they judge society, or blame ...
