Re: Daughter on records of church never baptized
Supposedly church policy is that if a child is blessed, but not baptized, they will be dropped from membership records when they turn 18. No idea of that is actually enforced or not.

Re: Another Mormon Stake President arrested for abuse of a child
Back when it was announced that my stake president and 1st councilor were being sued as part of a suit about their actions to enable and protect a known child molester, DW was vocal about her support of the victims and their families, partially because she knew one of the sets of parents very well. ...

Re: Garments always hanging out and it drives me nuts
Anyway flash forward and we're now many years into the mixed faith marriage stuff and every day I have to see her garments hanging out of her clothes. They're always out on top and then hang below her shorts sometimes and definitely out a bit when sitting or laying down... we all know how often thi...

What's the story with Tim Ballard?
I'm seeing a bunch of stuff about Tim Ballard. I gather that LDSinc is tying to attack him. But for what? Who is Tim Ballard and why is he on the Mormon hit list?
I'm missing something here.

Re: Shunning by Decreee
I listened to some over lunch today, so I gt through most of the episode. I wonder how much is ego and how much is poor decisions that have blown up in the face of leadership. My FIL used to be a bishop and he readily admitted that he got exactly on exactly 2 things. "Jack" and "Squat". His words. I...

I am in the middle of this podcast. I just got to the part of the letter from K&M. WTF???
I have to wait until I drive home from work to finish this episode. May be a good thing since that episode was getting the blood boiling a bit. This is messed up so far.

Re: Please Sir, I Want Some More... Church
... He mentioned that his church friend had asked my son if he was coming to church Sunday, and that it would be good if he did. ... If you want to blow some minds, come up with a non-church activity on a Sunday, invite "church friend" and tell him "it would be good" if he attended with your son. A...

Re: Please Sir, I Want Some More... Church
What does your son really want here? It sounds like your son wants to go to church to see his friends and right now church is where they meet. Can you encourage him to meet his friends outside of church? An after school or a Saturday activity?

Okay, when will you take one of NewNameNoah's temple Videos and do a Rifftrax to it? That would be AMAZING!

*I can't and won't try to speak on what Initiatory is like for women. I just know I hated it. Did you get the celestial wiener grab too? …and to think that was a normal part of the initiatory until 2005??? Like why in the world would anyone keep going and doing this on their own free will???????? I...

Re: Rethinking the Renlund's dented boat
To further grow the revised analogy, when you are brought onboard, you are shown to some of the guest rooms and are amazed by how nice they look. They have windows, but always have the curtains pulled closed. Once you agree to stay and take the time to really explore the ship you find that you were ...

One thing that stood out to be when I first got my endowment in 2000 pre-mission, was just how much of a let down it was. It is hyped to such extent about how amazing it all was and i came out thinking that I had pretty much heard everything already and there was very little that was actually new. O...

Re: Returning Missionary Procedures
When i got home, I had to report to the stake president. Before he released me, he asked if a church court had been held for me while on the mission. I truthfully answered, "no." He told me that was a standard question that he had to ask all returning missionaries. May I ask how long ago this was? ...

Re: THANK YOU OHIO
I try to avoid politics, but this is one that fascinates me. Back in 2009-2010 when the ACA (Affordable Care Act)* was being pushed through Washington, one of the big rallying cries from conservatives was that the law would allow for government to have too much control over a person's health care. T...

Re: The Cost of a Janitor
Where I work, when Covid hit, they hired a local janitorial company to clean and sanitize the office, bathrooms and breaks rooms. It was the most practical way to comply with state and company requirements and still keep the factory running. One thing they found is that everyone appreciated having c...

Re: The Cost of a Janitor
I’m ok with members cleaning weekly. But God forbid, can we please have someone do a deep clean on a quarterly basis? Our building smells so bad when you walk in even the Holy Ghost gets offended as we all swear under our breath. It’s a hint of mold, dirty diapers, stale air, and dirty deacon socks...

Re: After 10+ years inactive, I decided to return for good
Honestly, I dread the idea of being on my death bed, having denied God because I got doubtful about church money, controversies, contradictions, church history, while denying all the good blessings I had received as a believer. I don't know who originally said this, but I find it truthful. There ar...

Re: Slowly fading away? The future of NOM?
I think a good portion of the decline is a reflection of the internet in general. Message boards like this just are not as popular as they used to be. A lot of people shifted to sites like Redit & Quora, but even those have seen declines in the number of posts of that last few years. I am a member o...

If anyone is interested in fringe religion and fringe science in general, I would suggest Oh, No Ross can Carrie.
