Re: Should Utah Declare Men's Bathrooms Tampon Free?

I would rather have them focus on things that could make the lives of Utahn’s better….like improving the air quality.

Should this be over in the Coffee Shop, rather than in Support?

Radio West program on Blacks and the Priesthood

Today on NPR I heard this Radio West episode about a new book about the process Spencer W. Kimball went through to receive the revelation allowing black men to hold the priesthood. If I were a believer, this would devastate my faith. https://radiowest.kuer.org/show/radiowest/2024-08-06/black-mormons ...

Re: The Book of Mormon and Modern Conflict

After I studied at the BYU Jerusalem Center, I left the experience supportive of Palestinians after seeing how Israeli society oppresses them. I think that was a common reaction among the BYU students studying there. I think the Church needs to maintain strict neutrality to be able to continue the ...

Re: Original Doctrines

Thanks for sharing the fascinating information Felix…I wasn’t aware of much of it. Here are the parts that really stood out to me: The story of Michael/Adam was the story of our Heavenly Father who had to complete his final task of becoming a God and bringing one of his wives to populate the earth. T ...

Re: Today was a hard day !

Even though it doesn't sound like much my small victory over the years is that she knows I am pimo !!!! And she knows I only attend for her. It is a small victory but it's Huge for me. Congratulations Conman on this victory, on communicating to her that you are sacrificing for her because of your ...

Poignant, lovely song from David Archuleta about the moment he told his mom he was stepping away from the Church.

Re: Teaching the wrong stuff

Good points, alas, about how the church’s teachings about temple marriage were hurtful, in addition to being useless. You nailed it when you said in your initial post that the church teaches whatever serves its institutional interests, regardless of whether it is harmful or hurtful to the lives of i ...

Re: Teaching the wrong stuff

Thanks for your thought-provoking post, alas, and also for the helpful communication tips in your other thread. Marriage is one area where the church teaches all the wrong stuff. In the 80’s and 90’s, the church’s programs for teens and young adults put an enormous focus on avoiding pre-marital sex a ...

Re: Daughter on records of church never baptized

You might try calling Member Services at Church Headquarters: 801-240-3500. They have access to the membership database, can look up people’s membership record numbers, and can possibly cancel your daughter’s record faster than can be done through your local ward.

Re: After 10+ years inactive, I decided to return for good

Probably, if I was male instead of female I would have stayed active. First of all, I wouldn’t have been a sexual abuse survivor if I had been a boy in my family, and also a lot of the emotional abuse I got from family of origin was because girls were worth less. But staying active, I really got t ...

I’ve been a lurker here for nearly 10 years and created this account just to express my appreciation for the insightful comments here, and for those who make this site possible with financial and/or technical contributions. I’ve moved past thinking about Mormonism much and am now married to a never-M ...
