The show is still playing through Sept 1, 2019.
That's another one I've wanted to see. Have you seen any of them?

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

This feels akin to the other recent trend we were having a discussion on, the one about if the Youth are actually leaving in droves. Could the slow down on NOM, the fact that most all of us that may have started off on the early days of NOM, have now evolved our faith transitions to the end of the s...

Re: The Letter.

I just had a chat with a friend that mentioned that saying my mental health has improved could be seen as an attack on the church. What do you think? I'm not sure I care. It's the truth. Can I actually be honest and tell someone in my family the honest truth once in my life? Personally, I always co...

Re: Are youth really leaving?

I've watched the neighborhood go from likely 80-90% mormon to 20-30% mormon in the heart of the MorCor. That last anecdote is quite shocking to my fluffy brain. I hadn't thought about the neighborhood dynamics. During the last housing bust we scored a short sale up on the east bench in south east W...

Re: New youth program being defined

The principles taught in this effort for children and youth represent a higher, holier THAN THOU way to encourage the rising generation to follow Jesus Christ and apply His COB's gospel in all areas of their lives,

Re: Are youth really leaving?

Besides nearly all of my kids being out before DW and I were, I don't really have a view into my local unit anymore to know what our trends are. It seemed like 30-40% of the missionaries were coming home early for mostly mental reasons. Seems like resignations overall had a spike on QuitMormon.org t...

Re: New youth program being defined

I have already decided that my boys and girls will get supplemental instruction in cool outdoor things from me without a church program. I call it "Dad scouts". Basically we will go out and do things I already like to do. Skiing, mountain biking, camping, watersports, hunting, navigation, and maybe...

Re: New WOW Video

2. They should be honest and state that beer was OK in the WoW because that's a very uncomfortable truth. 3. They should note that early leaders drank and smoke including Joseph Smith until long after it was produced. As you mentioned, this was not meant to be a commandment but a way to take it eas...

Re: New WOW Video

Ug...after reading all the sappy crappy comments on the video I couldn't stand it. I'll probably regret this but I just posted this on there: Just love how these videos gloss over the details, like how the Saints drank alcohol, even made it and sold it in the Salt Lake valley, long after JS was gone...

Re: BYU Police Department Decertification Countdown

With the campus police decertified, it would be interesting to come up with some scenarios where the the authority they used to have is usurped and they have to then call in the regular cops but the regular cops don't see any issues so the whole thing get's dropped and all their time was wasted.

Re: The Trickster God

Speaking to people here about my pain when there is nothing but scorn and mockery in both places. Thank you no. I will suffer in silence on my own. Thank you. Farewell. Wow, well I think my initial suspicions are sadly true about the level of narcissism you expressed while you were here. So no, don...

Re: Thought Experiment 1: Correct Faithful Worldview/Paradigm for BOA

Let us define restorationism. Are we going with the version that came before Joseph Smith in the reformed baptists, the scottish enlightenment and english trained ministers such as Edwards, Hopkins, Stone, Campbell, Scott, Crawford, or only JS' later adoptions of their doctrines? It is a sad state ...

Re: Paradox or Problem

I wonder.... I agree, more is asked out of each partner in a marriage today than before. Is this support of evolution ? We do more in our existence lives than before. Now we do more in our relationships than before. Is increased demand on our mental/emotional capacity driving an evolution in our ab...

Re: Nephite Interpreters

I see that in my wife today when she'll say things like "I dont need a testimony of church history when I have a testimony of what they're doing today," but I have no hope that she'll end up letting go like I did... but it's definitely there. And isn't that sad! If she only could see what TSCC is r...

Re: Thought Experiment 1: Correct Faithful Worldview/Paradigm for BOA

Nobody has put all the evidence together in the right way yet, except me, and I am trying to get the word out, and they are unaware of my work. When they are aware of my work, no thanks to the Apologists trying to put the Kabosh on it, finally people will realize that the problem is solved, includi...

Re: Nephite Interpreters

But Hagoth, God's ways are not our ways; and this is why we can't have nice religions! ;) Seriously though, the level of ridiculousness required to make any of it work is astounding. A while back I started typing up a list of "things that have to be true for the church to be true" that was just a s...

Re: Nephite Interpreters

As with everything else regarding church origins, it's really useful to step way back and tell yourself this story in the simplest possible terms as if you're an outsider hearing it for the first time. I did this out loud while driving one day when my shelf was breaking and really cracked myself up...

Re: Regretting the mindset I had for relationships pre-mission

I've thought back on those Jr. High and HS days as well, trying to imagine how my relationships would have been different. As a TBM I was doing my best to keep the chastity madness in every way. Although I experienced some make out sessions I still managed to marry my first wife as a virgin after my...
