Re: DW Back To Church

Our ward had their first back-to-church day yesterday. My family did not go. I did receive reports though that about 30 people attended (usual sacrament attendance of ~140). Within the attendees there were infants, elderly, and at least one family who are known to have had direct physical contact w...

Re: DW Back To Church

She went from 2 Saturdays to none in one fell swoop and she is not looking forward to it. Man, if both you and I could get our respective missuses to think about WHY they aren't excited to go back, then further critical thinking about a host of other things could start to take place. That's the hop...

Re: My Interview with Brian Hauglid is Up!

And also as others have mentioned: Wow... Basically an almost life-long CES employee "coming out" as a heretic. Mr Hauglid, if you're reading (or Consig, let him know.:) Thank you for your integrity and honesty. There are likely more like you who do not have the courage to speak their truth the way...

Re: Ward Council is Closed (Minded)

Do not hope that therapy will make it so that your wife will be able to have a conversation that shatters her world view without being upset. There IS. NO. WAY. TO. Tell her her would view is wrong without her having a melt down. Therapy will only help her change in ways SHE wants to change. I bet ...

Re: Ward Council is Closed (Minded)

You've been busy! I'm glad you didn't end up having to deal with the first vision(s) lesson, tender mercy! A stake leader recently told me I should consider doing Zoom EQ meetings. But I don't want to. They can release me if they want that to happen. I thought the guidance right now is to not hold ...

Re: An integrity crisis?

Hey Græy, Please go easy on yourself. I remember teaching a high priest group lesson, and it was probably about the pioneers and/or other suffering this life can bring. I explained that I felt I'd led a privileged life to that point in time (probably didn't use the word "privilege" because I didn't...

Re: Ward Council is Closed (Minded)

It has been some time since I've updated my WC thread/journal. Here are some highlights. August 2019 I was released from being a bishopric counselor and called as EQP My good friend was called to replace me as bishopric counselor September 2019 My friend from WC (who believes in pre-columbian horses...

Ditto for jfro18's questions. I suspect something like that might be on the agenda anyway.

Thanks consig! As always, many thanks for all you do and all you put in to your podcast!

I vote just don't go. There is no reason to feel judged for keeping yourself and your family safe.

Stay home, stay safe. Watch the rest of the ward and stake try to find space in the hospital come August.

Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 25

For Come Follow Me, Lesson 25 , Jun 22-28, 2020, Alma 17-22 If I wanted to encourage thought and try to understand devout believers better, I might ask: “ Can faith be harmful or dangerous? ” See the Things to consider for this lesson. And, here’s a list of some other observations about this lesson...

Re: Changes

Oh and I guess there is a special place in Hell for me because I have "corrupted" my family. There's also a special place in Heaven for helping your family come to a better understanding of reality. The only people condemning you to Hell are those who are adamantly certain of their conclusions. Wel...

UPDATE: DS 1,2 and DIL (all RMs) are mentally out now, after reading the CES Letter. DS 3 is mentally out and currently not planning on a mission. DD 1&2 don't know what to think but want to stay involved because all their friends are Mormon. DW is most likely mentally out as well. That is (hopeful...

Re: Bendar Feels Attacked

Having now watched Bednars actual talk, my interpretation has softened just a bit. I do think he paints a false picture of a government willing to rip away religious freedom as soon as we aren't paying attention. He builds that narrative by citing the ban on group gatherings (which happened to inclu...

Bendar Feels Attacked

I'm sure many of you have seen this already but I am somewhat appalled... https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/bednar-covid-19-pandemic-religious-freedom Quotes from the man himself: Gathering, in short, is at the core of faith and religion. Re: Has anyone been back to church yet to report?

Yup. I’m trying to explain to the wife why I won’t go back for church in a large group setting then I head off to Home Depot not worried about the crowds. Seriously though, what’s the point of meeting in a small group for church if you can do all the church stuff at home? It’s about maintaini...

Re: Has anyone been back to church yet to report?

My stake/ward plan on holding the first sacrament meetings in July. Each ward will have one Sunday to themselves and is free to have as many sac. meetings as necessary to meet demand and keep attendance below 50. My ward is planning 2 meetings. Then in August we go to two meetings/month with two war...

Re: Biblical scholarship vs the Book of Mormon

The back and forth between you and Mike Tannehill, by the way, is fascinating.... To which episode are you referring Hagoth? I'm sure I've listened to the MS podcast before, but it has been quite a while. Or are you talking about the IoT episode you mentioned? I have not listend to IoT and maybe no...
