Re: Major changes to organizations and auxiliaries set for October conference

I can maybe see women witnesses becoming a thing. DW has questioned that line for a long time now and why not? Right? However, changes to the EQ? As a newly minted EQP, I would love nothing more than to get out of this gig, but I just don't see it happening. They just merged HP and EQ 18 months ago....

Re: Mayan Nephites

Graey, here is a well researched and better alternative to a Mesoamerican setting for the Book of Mormon. Poster Darth J proposed that the Italian Penninsula had all the right makings for the Book of Mormon story to have taken place. Thank goodness someone has come up with fruitful results. It fits...

See, this whole process takes time. It isn’t like God tells his prophet what is going to happen ahead of time. What kind of God do you think Rusty worships? A real one?

Re: Pres Nelson's BYU Speech Today

I know someone who decided to pray about it and was told Nelson is NOT God's prophet. Confirmation bias, perhaps? I submit that getting the opposite answer is also confirmation bias. I agree with you totally, Random. And that is precisely why praying to know if he is a prophet, or praying to know i...

From some of the letters between the first presidency and Dr. Lowry Nelson. Bold emphasis and <racial | sexual> replacements are mine. https://www.mormonstories.org/other/Lowry_Nelson_1st_Presidency_Exchange.pdf From the days of the Prophet Joseph even until now, it has been the doctrine of the Chur...

Re: Pres Nelson's BYU Speech Today

The fifth truth is that everybody can find out that what he has said is true by praying to God and God will let them know. President Nelson then closes by testifying that everything he has said is true. (This may be a bit off because I just listened to it and did not make notes, but I think it capt...

Re: Mayan Nephites

Isn’t it wonderful when you can actually use your intellect and learn about new things outside the limited confines of Mormonism? It is! With the garment top thing, for the last 3 years were you sneaking the top on before bed? [emoji1] If that's the case, it's what I do too. Does the wife pack garm...

Mayan Nephites

So, this past week DW and I took a much needed vacation (Caribbean cruise!), leaving the kids at home with grandparents. Preparing for the trip led to some interesting events including when DW noticed for the first time that I wasn't wearing my garment top (and haven't been for around 3 years at thi...

Re: A Nice Compliment That Enraged Me

I can understand your anger to see someone treated poorly when they are honestly seeking truth and understanding. It hurts when you're the one getting that treatment, it hurts worse it is a child on the receiving end. That said, well done teaching those lessons! If nothing else, the church has taugh...

Congratulations slavereeno! That really does sound like a tough time at the wedding, for all involved, but you survived it. And now, it has to feel great to be G-free! :)

We're here for you when you need to vent/talk. I hope your family is and continues to do well!

...Or find a portion of the prep material in Come Follow Me that allows you to branch into something else? Maybe you could do a hands on portion of the lesson where you make a simple lock and key, then "run out of time" before you can tie it into priesthood keys... Good luck! Get one of those reall...

11. How much money any individual or family feels is right to "give back" to God. Also, there should be zero expectation of giving any money to "his church."

I don't know you, but I'm glad you've come back! It sounds like RR and Hagoth both vouch for you and as they say... "A friend of my friend is my friend's friend." Wait, is that right?

Methinks you should start a new thread, 'cause requests for blessings are never. Gonna. End... I set up a thread in the Staying Faithful forum for anyone interested :D Even if I got nothing else out of this thread (Which I certainly did. Thank you everyone.), it was well worth it just to have this ...

Re: Tithing Question + An Introduction

Welcome Bluebird! I'm happy to hear that you and your husband are together on this. There are many people who would be very envious of that fact. The tithing question will indeed come down to leadership roulette, but you should be good at least most of the time just saying yes and moving on. I think...

Anyway - you're going to become a project now and your wife will be another project that the ward will try to keep from getting infected with your disbelief. That's going to be a nightmare. I think I may just continue to get a recommend and keep the ward leaders guessing... Haha! Don't play their g...

Re: Mass disclosure

I have to give credit to DW, she is doing her best to handle the situation and shut down the conversations as much as she can. This is certainly no more fun for her than for me. But what kind of effect does this constant bombardment of people asking about me, as though I had committed the worst sin...

Don't worry, you've got this! You can use this handy list when choosing your GC talks for lessons: https://newordermormon.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4195&p=58264&hilit=NOMfrence#p57620 Also if things get out of hand during a lesson, just bring up baptismal covenants. Tell them we need to get back to b...

I've missed this thread until today. Welcome stuck!
