Re: Forced Turning Point
I'm really not big on titles. I'll have to work hard at getting people to drop the bishop thing. The hardest part for me was calling somebody and then introducing myself a "Bishop New Name" I don't know if you eventually get used to it, but whenever my DW says "bishop" my stomach knots up. If you'd...

NOMference Scores - April 2021
Did I miss the April 2021 NOMference scores tally? I didn't see them anywhere, so I tried to add them up myself as I'm still on the hook to choose the next few EQ lessons. MoPag, I have even more respect for you for doing this in the past. Its like living through conference all over again! Without f...

Re: Forced Turning Point
PS. When will this adventure your starting on be official? I can request the pirate guy change your title to Bishop Graey or Obispo Graey as noted a few posts up. The 18th is the "big day." I've been working on my acceptance speech. Something like, "Now is the great day of my power. I reign f...

Re: Forced Turning Point
On reflection years later, I see the right way to handle the problem would have been to tell the YM that the SP would be asking about it, and that if he could forgo the deed for a week or so, he could answer in the negative when asked if he did! This is a good thought. We have a few boys who will r...

Re: Forced Turning Point
The question needs to be asked: Bishop G, did you specifically tell your bishop or SP that you were not a full tither or did you just finesse that particular question? I was under the impression that it was more of a finessed response to the temple rec tithing question, not an outright declaration....

Re: Makings of a good Preacher?
Just thinking of 38-year-old Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz and that seventeen-year-old girl. What if he married the girl? What if the girl was 14? What if he married her? What if he married the 17 and 14-year-old? What if he married two 14-year-olds, two 17-year-olds, and a bunch of married women?...

Re: Forced Turning Point
Did you accept the calling? I may have missed that. I did not call to opt out of the calling. And as of Monday night turned my request for counselors. You could always make a game out of it. See how long you can go as bishop and never once mention Joseph Smith? Base you talks around the Bible and u...

*raises arm to the square* I support and sustain Graey as a super kick a$$ bishop!!! Now I will set you apart NOM style: Graey, By the power of the priestesshood which I hold, I set you apart as Bishop. I call upon the good and divine powers that work in the universe to accompany you on your journe...

Re: Doubters are lazy learners!!!!!
I saw this on Reddit. But it seems relevant. Mormons actually do very poorly on their knowledge of religion as a whole... https://www.pewforum.org/2019/07/23/what-americans-know-about-religion/ Take the quiz here: https://www.pewresearch.org/quiz/u-s-religious-knowledge-quiz/ I got 12/15 when I took...

Re: The 2020 numbers
It seems reasonable that whether active or inactive, members of the church are still having children at the same or a slightly higher rate than the rest of the population. I suspect that there really has been a significant drop in active membership over the past year. I also suspect that, similar to...

Re: Forced Turning Point
Good luck Bishop graey! You have some good boundaries here, and hopefully they will be respected. I'm sure you'll be a great service-oriented bishop. Raising my right hand to you, and my middle finger to those who put you in this position. If you have a question/concern you can't post about, feel f...

Re: Forced Turning Point
Wow. Good luck Graey. (Sorry, I'm gonna keep calling you by your "first name.") Dropping the title will be first order of business among everyone who tries to call me bishop. Please continue to call me by my first name! Delegate, delegate, delegate. And... You're still a volunteer, always keep that...

Re: Forced Turning Point
First off, I have to thank everyone for sharing support. I started typing out individual replies and thank yous, but there are too many. You're all life-savers. Thank you! ;) This week has spawned a strange mix of emotions and HOURS upon HOURS of conversations with Mrs. Græy - most of it ended well,...

Re: Doubters are lazy learners!!!!!
This stuff makes my blood boil because I know DW believes it and wants my kid to believe it too... and I know I'm not alone. I can't imagine any version of reality in which you could be labeled a lazy learner, jfro. If you have been lazy in your studies that makes pretty much every believer I know ...
