Re: Clever observation on Divorce

Good for your son! I love it when my kids show they're thinking for themselves.

Re: Primary Program Blues

It is hard watching your kids get fed this stuff. I'm sorry you have to suffer through it too. Our primary program this year was a complete disaster. With the short sac. meeting vs prior years (10 whole minutes), our Primary Pres decided there was no time to waste having kids walk up to the micropho...

Oh, so this isn’t part of Rusty’s new Youth Battalion...?
When your youth are all drafted into the Youth Battalion, and their leaders are all "officers" leading them into battle against "the adversary", a militaristic #deznat is the inevitable next step.

Re: Lila Tueller Interview

I really enjoyed her interview. She is the daughter of a Mormon top player. She went through a faith crisis starting this year and has come out to her family and the world with her disaffection. I’m kind of jealous. I’ve been in a truth crisis for 4-5 years and nobody knows but my friends here on N...

Re: Accessing NOM at church?

NOM access used to be my lifeline during bishopric meeting. I don't have time to open NOM during the church block anymore, at least not without risking death glares from DW during sacrament meeting. I'll try to give it a shot one of these days though. I'm constantly on my phone during HC meetings, ...

That is a rough start to the day. I'm sorry Mackman. I'm still working on the guts to come completely clean the first time, I can't imagine having to do it twice!

Re: Tithing settlement

Nowhere does it say you have to pay the full year’s tithes by tithing settlement. Nowhere does it say you have to pay monthly. Just pay your tithes according to the dictates of your conscious. If you consider yourself full then declare that. This. Many people pay annually at the end of the year. Yo...

Re: Mr. and Mrs. Græy's Stuff

Thanks everyone. This past weekend was another fun one. We watched Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events with two of our kids on Saturday night. I had never seen the whole movie (or read the whole book) before. At one point, near the end, the story-line reaches peak craziness when Uncle Ol...

Re: Out Groups

This is a tough spot. Like jfro18, I live quite far from most of my family, but I can still empathize with you because when we are together, there is no discussion outside of the church topics. My brother and his wife humble brag about how his daughters were never allowed to see the new Beauty and t...

Re: Does your spouse know you post on NOM?

No, because she doesn't want to talk about anything in person, I don't think she'd appreciate much of what I've written here. She has seen one of my more innocuous posts when I accidentally left it up on the laptop, but I don't think she actually linked it to me as the one doing the writing. I waite...

I had a few thoughts I want to throw into the void. I apologize in advance because that does not really add anything new to the understood state of things, but I really just want to type this out somewhere. I was listening to RFM's latest podcast where he and Bill Reel interview Patrick Mason. They ...

Well, sh*t. I just typed up a large entry detailing a fight I had with DW yesterday. But before I could hit submit the site logged me out, and now that whole post is gone. Cliff notes version. We have nightly family scripture study, generally following Come Follow Me outline. Throughout the four can...

Re: Book Review of "This is My Doctrine" Part 1

Very good review. I agree with FiveFingerMnemonic, this is one of my favorite books. I love the way he systematically, unemotionally, and un apologetically unravels our current understanding of LDS doctrine; how it has evolved and how it has been (mis)interpreted over the years. I too go back to thi...

+1000 points for MoPag for all she does here at NOM.
+100 additional points for color coding the point totals.

Thank you MoPag for all you do organizing and compiling NOMference stats! I am already using point totals and comments from the threads while considering upcoming EQ lessons for our ward. Aburto is definitely at the top of my list. Between Aburto and Eubanks the women are definitely the ones leading...
