Re: Opening Up Church Again

Mrs. Hagoth read a story in the paper yesterday about a guy who went to church and infected a lot of fellow congregants who took it home and spread to others, resulting in thousands of sick people and numerous deaths. This was in S. Korea where their tracking has been much better than we have been a...

...when I hear that Russel Nelson is washing the feet of the homeless in SLC, maybe I will consider him a follower of Christ. but I won’t hold my breath. Like Sam Young you mean? As I recall, while he was doing that Russell Nelson stayed in the ivory tower and, along with every single other Prophet...

Re: And Jesus Smiled...

Who said no unclean thing can enter anyway? Who defines what is clean and what is not? Sometimes it's helpful to step back and look at these things with the Mormon filter removed And the Christian filter, for that matter, since Jesus was a Jew, not a Christian. I suspect Jesus was using entirely di...

Re: If I could ask them one question . . . Come Follow Me, Lesson 21

These extensive fatalities indicate armies of massive numbers, yet these top leaders of each faction end up doing direct, one-on-one battle with each other. And it's a pattern. It happened with the Jaredites too. Even more impressive was that it came down to only two people after millions had falle...

How about the warnings about secret signs and combinations. He pretty much cornered that market.

Re: Donald Trump A Most Noble President

I would like to see how long a Democratic president would be tolerated by Democratic leaders if he told lies as frequently as Trump. While visiting Michigan this week, Trump retold the lie of how he was awarded the Michigan Man of the Year Award. How brazen of liar can you be to utter such a lie in...

Re: Hans and Brigitta Mattson, 2nd and 3rd Witnesses for the 2nd Anointing

Emrysfellows, do you believe Tom and the Mattsons made up the details of the 2nd anointing? Before Phillips' story the details of foot washing were totally unknown to the general membership, but you just verified that part. I'm just wondering how Tom would know that. Also, what do you think of the p...

Re: They are back out in full force... sacrament on demand and lovebombing 2020 style.

Because I'm not an active member, my wife has gone without the sacrament the last... I'm not sure being an active member is a prerequisite. I figure it's my own damn priesthood to do with as I want until they magically take it away from me by signing a paper or scratching my name off a list or what...

Re: Donald Trump A Most Noble President

I would like to see how long a Democratic president would be tolerated by Democratic leaders if he told lies as frequently as Trump. For a party that claims to be the moral/Christian party they have an impressive degree of tolerance for dishonesty, bigotry, and sexual impropriety in their leaders.

Re: And Jesus Smiled...

I think the biggest single problem with religion is that it takes itself too seriously, but I guess that applies to any kind of human hierarchical structure. If people felt like they could smile and laugh at the things that their leaders say the whole thing might unravel pretty quickly. Imagine if J...

Re: Opening Up Church Again

I suppose I should applaud the Church's attempt to be more inclusive - but it rings so hollow when a couple of years ago they still had lesson manuals discouraging interracial marriage: Does the PR department outrank the prophets? Brigham Young: "If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixe...

This is the third season. I really enjoyed the first two seasons, but this one appears to be something completely different. The original storyline was a Victorian mashup of classic movie monsters with some Oscar Wilde thrown in. At first I thought it sounded incredibly hokey, but they really made i...

Re: How do we bridge the epistemological divide of “I know”?

I was part of the “I know” club. I didn’t actually know, I just wanted to believe so bad that I said “I know” when bearing testimony. How do we socially “un-know” the church is true? The other version of this is, "...then I heard this voice inside my head say, 'you don't need a manifestation becaus...

I have found a community with these people: https://www.saltlakeoasis.org/

The current apocalypse is making community pretty difficult to find and develop.
