Re: Is Dallin Oaks the worst of the current leaders?

I constantly feel that Oaks is exactly as horrible as he can get away with. If unconstrained he would rule with blood and horror on this earth.

Re: We now know what Hagoth did when he left in a ship

I recently came across some more information about these mummies. It turns out that some had more nicotine in their tissues than you could possibly get from smoking tobacco. It also turns out that 19th century curators doused mummies in nicotine to help preserve them. Also, these mummies were openly...

Re: Mormonism my way ?

There you go, Mackman. If you want to make the local leaders uncomfortable enough to excommunicate you, just start openly supporting same-sex marriage and telling teenagers that masturbation is not a sin that affects your worthiness, and that there's a difference between a values model (whatever tha...

Re: The true order of tithing

I have not yet gone non-tithe paying, Sorry to hear that. I'm the opposite. I don't pay tithing but I still go to tithing settlement. I do it for Mrs. Hagoth. The funny thing is that she has changed her definition of tithing from giving money to the church to giving it to people she knows who are s...

Re: Just when I think I've heard it all !!!

I'm sure my idea of heaven would be hell to most Mormons. It would probably consists of rowing and sailing small boats between islands on a desert lake where you join small crowds for barbeques, H. P. Lovecraft reading clubs, sci-fi movie previews, hippy music jams, star parties... and rivers of en...

Re: Just when I think I've heard it all !!!

Would any of Hagoth's favorite "Celestial Hagothian Activities" get boring after a few million millennia ? You're right, I forgot to mention sex. ETA: I think the only kind of infinite existence that would be bearable would be one in which you forget everything every century or so. Being a god who ...

Re: Just when I think I've heard it all !!!

The problem is that everyone’s definition of the celestial kingdom is different. If it's anything like earthly LDS meetings, temples, and gatherings I would be relieved not to get stranded there, and if that damnable organ and choir provide the soundtrack it would be a living hell for me. I'm sure ...

Re: The 2020 numbers

...a few years ago we discovered that my wife's grandfather was baptized 8 times after he was dead. That was pretty weird, especially considering the fact that he was a baptized faithful member since he was 8 years old and died with his garments on  That's a new one on me. I wonder how much ...

Re: The 2020 numbers

RFM made an interesting observation on the latest Mormonism Live podcast. Many religions report membership in terms of attendance. The LDS church carefully counts attendance but NEVER reports those numbers.

Kinda like how they scrupulously audit their finances a but never divulge the results.

Re: A So-Called Beloved Daughter

I'm glad you found us here at NOM, hallew. I think you'll find that a lot of the people here can really relate to your journey. The truth will make you free, and I think one of the the best places that applies is when we realize the truth that we aren't at the beck and call of some guy down the stre...

Re: Church updates handbook.

The part of telling members to get vaccinated and not to commit affinity fraud through their numerous investment frauds and multi-level marketing pyramid schemes sounds good. Wish they would have added a line about giving back tithing monies that came to the Church directly through these fraudulent...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I had my second Moderna shot yesterday. Today I feel like somebody took a baseball bat to my arm and I'm a bit achy, tired and foggy, but nothing to write home about (barely enough to write NOM about).

Re: The 2020 numbers

Things are changing. Church memberships are falling, but non-affiliated spirituality might be rising? What do you think? Is moral purpose and community now better supported through reformation movements - are civil rights protests and volunteer groups establishing themselves as the new spiritual co...

Re: The 2020 numbers

I think you left off the children of record baptisms of 65,440. This means by taking the 2019 total and adding the 2020 new converts plus the children and then subtracting the 2020 total membership there were 92,743 who died or had their names removed from the church. Is my math correct? I'm not su...

I also find it interesting that they have announce, what, 15+ odd temples in the last year, but only managed to complete 1. Okay, temples may take longer to build than a year, but the list of vaporware temples is growing longer and longer each year. I think this is a perfect example of Russell Nels...

b) Grazing your cattle on federal land is freeloading. They want to use land without paying for it because they are cheapskates. Why, exactly, should they get to use land they don't own for free? Federal lands can't be a free for all for anyone to use however they see fit. Imagine the meltdown that...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Millions of Evangelicals refuse to get vaccinated for various reasons. Among them: The vaccine is made from aborted fetuses. Getting vaccinated is playing God in trying to take from Him the ability to choose who does/doesn't die. Vaccination cards are the apocalyptic Mark o' the Beast. People are ac...

One of the neighbor ladies who knew of his possessing a seer stone reasonably asked, "Well, why doesn't he just look in his stone to see how they're doing?"🤔 Hilarious. Or look in his stone and find some coins, like he claimed to be able to do for other people. Apparently the stone was really good ...

Re: Doubters are lazy learners!!!!!

This lazy learner got 15/15 with no guesses, which is more than double what the typical non-lazy Mormon scores. Maybe it's some sort of tricky test where less is really more, like if you know too much about other religions it's because you're not devoting enough attention to your own. Or Satan. Alwa...
