Re: Why will you stay or comeback ?

For me the reset on my marriage was worth it !!! I know of all the issues with the church but I put up with it for her . I believe very little of it maybe 10% on a good day. If it works for you, regardless of what anybody else says or thinks, more power to you. There are probably a million less-bel...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Are there any photos of him at all wearing a face mask? I haven't been able to find one. That cannot possibly be an accident oversight, considering that millions of people are at the edge of their seats desperately hoping for SOME kind of guidance from him. It seems to me that it can only be intent...

Re: The Leaning Tower of Pisa Metaphor

But inside the church, or the tower, all the floors and walls line up, And seem straight. They are “right” when compared to each other inside the building. But if you look out at the horizon or at other buildings nearby, you can see that the tower doesn’t line up with the other buildings. You have ...

Re: Susan Easton Black Rips Benjamin Park a New One

I cannot imagine higher praise for a book and author than to be dismissed by The Interpreter. Please excuse me for stepping over the line into politics, but I think the analogy is appropriate. Church apologetics works kind of like the Trump administration. If you want to know who's telling the trut...

Re: Secret Mormon Meetings of 1922

I tend to see it as a perpetual "not on my watch" challenge for them. Even if a putative prophet/seer/revelator came to the realizations that you or I have about this stuff what are the odds, considering the long climb to the top with all of the perks and adoration and the massive efforts of obfusca...

Re: Purpose of D&C

Just imagine the overwhelming celebration you would see among church membership if Pres. Nelson produced a new section of the D&C that says, "thus saith the Lord." Instead they have to pretend that meeting time changes are the same thing.

If they don't know about the problems then all I can say is shame on them! They are willfully ignorant and they are not doing their job! Anybody on the planet can find the CES letter and Mormonthink with a few seconds effort and read and understand all of the major issues in a single day of study. I...

I had a harder time with John asking a question, then cutting her off in mid-sentence to either ask the same question in slightly different form or to finish her sentence for her. But then, that's what he does.

Re: My Interview with Brian Hauglid is Up!

1) Brian is absolutely correct, that the challenge of apologetics is that they come to the table with their conclusions first, and not only do they refuse to follow the evidence, they manipulate the data to support that conclusion. And they are doing exactly what the church wants. Truth is the firs...

The same kind of reasoning worked wonders on the Heaven's Gate community and the Trade Tower hijackers.

Re: Purpose of D&C

The purpose of the D&C is to be a pit from which they can mine phrases out of context and reapply them as The Word of God to whatever current application needs a tone of authority to make it seem legitimate. They should just call it the C, because they took the D out when they amputated the Lectures...

Re: Secret Mormon Meetings of 1922

Can someone please clarify something for me? At one point in the discussion there was some mention of (I believe) James H. Moyle visiting David Whitmer and being told that he saw the angel and plates only with his spiritual eyes. I read a couple of accounts of this visit and they make it sound like ...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

The photo would still be just as fake as his vacuuming photo, but it might just have the chance of changing the course of the virus in the Jello-Belt. The reason the vacuuming is noteworthy is that it is out of the ordinary. Like when you watch the news and start feeling like everyone is a thief or...

Boyd's thought: Bro. ------- is a kind and wonderful man and a good friend, but I feel he has been mislead by a lack of information and/or misinformation. For me doubts were raised by such people as David Whitmer, Martin Harris, B.H. Re: Secret Mormon Meetings of 1922

This sounds fascinating. Thanks for the heads-up, Moksha. Some people claim that Roberts was merely playing devil's advocate and speaking from the hypothetical position of a critic of the Book of Mormon, but that's not how I read it. I'm really looking forward to hearing what Montez came away with a...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I got the mass email from the Utah Area Presidency urging church members to wear masks. Boy, that must be a dilemma for some people. Must they prioritize their loyalty to the church over their constitutional right to transmit disease? Too bad the suggestion didn't come from Pres. Nelson. Had that be...
