Re: Kamala

I like her prosecutor vs felon rhetoric. I hope the Saints do not come out with any racial or gender putdowns of the Vice President, like having Anette Dennis announce that one needs a priesthood antenna to help lead the nation, or that she was not valiant in the pre-existence because of her ancest...

Re: Evangelicals

I'm just saying that if someone goes into an Evangelical service with bigotry in their heart, a generic sermon that thanks Jesus for every mundane thing in life that looks or feels pretty isn't going to do much to change their bigoted views. ... in modern times people don't appear to go to church t...

who is really running the show? I think it's Jim Henson. Re: Kamala

Regardless of what anyone thinks of her qualifications, she is certainly a breath of fresh air. I look forward to a debate. She should turn Trump's too old and mentally incompetent argument around on him, and add a big dose of his disrespect for women.

Re: Keeping up with Trump

George Conway made a video with a very strong analysis of Donald Trump that seems well worth watching for an informed voting electorate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyRD47IBNmY Yup. But then I thought it was obvious all along. The man is so narcissistic he thinks he's a genius for passing a men...

Re: Russell's Death Spiral

Perhaps something like a vanishing Cheshire cat who sneaks up and taps you on the shoulder saying, "You are way cool and special, Russell" during your flight to St. George. Isn't it interesting how many talks have a theme (often riding just underneath the purported theme) of how special LDS church ...

Re: Class action lawsuit over tithing

I understand that class action suits nationwide have been transferred to the Utah Courts where the Church has undisputed influence. In the past judges have dismissed cases rather than risk the wrath of the Church and Utah Citizens. Even if a case goes to trial, Utah juries have their peculiarities ...

Re: Convictions

When it comes to spirituality I believe direct personal experience is infinitely more important than the claims or opinions of others. I believe that what someone experiences personally is specifically THEIR experience, and that it has no bearing on how anyone else should live or think or what they ...

Re: Evangelicals

Another thing that surprised me; church members are really honored to be able to volunteer for the church. Big difference from Mormonism. We took our kids to the Lutheran church for Cub Scouts. They did such a great job because they allowed people to volunteer for the things they love to do and the...

They are going to argue that the church misled members about what the money was being used for.
Which is absolutely true. We'll see how much power state has over church (or truth has over manipulation). I'm not optimistic.

Re: Keeping up with Biden

Republicans: "Joe is too feeble and mentally incompetent. The Democrats are crazy for running him. He should resign."

Biden succumbs to reason and resigns from the race.

Republicans: "That's cheating! The Democrats are pulling an evil switcheroo by doing exactly what we said they need to!"

Meet Kamala Harris’s holistic thought advisor Dahlia Rose Hibiscus, who is deeply committed to helping the Vice President translate words into idea voyages. Hibiscus preaches the practice of speaking without thinking and encourages Harris to describe her journeys, molding our Vice President into a ...

Re: Keeping up with Trump

J.D, Vance bought the vice presidency. This week he said he would not have done what Mike Pence did, and if he finds himself in the same position he would replace legitimate electors with false electors to ensure a Trump win. How did the Republican party so easily abandon their identity as the Const...

Hagoth, is there any way you could visit both Unity of Salt Lake and the Center for Spiritual Living on separate Sundays and give us a report?
I will if you'll meet me there.

When I go to church on Sunday it is The Divine Assembly (the mushroom church).

Re: Keeping up with Trump

I listened to as much of the RNC and Trump's talk as I could stand. The only message was that everything in America was wonderful under Trump, and that everything would be perfect again the moment he is elected. He will solve all of the problems day one. He had no strategies, no policies, no actual ...

Re: Evangelicals

I haven't heard any hell fire and brimstone. That was another thing I found interesting about the church I attended. Unlike the Evangelical televangelists I have watched, or the revivals I attended in the Deep South, there was nothing threatening or apocalyptic about the message. In fact, you could...

Evangelicals

Evangelicals. What do they really teach and believe? I went to an evangelical megachurch not long ago. The had very high production value, with a great band and impressive multimedia show on multiple giant screens. The minister was very polished and well groomed. There were a lot of mentions of the ...
