Re: NeverMo friend and eternal families

We just went to the open house of a new temple in Utah. Afterwards my wife said with emotion that her favorite part was sitting as a family in the celestial room because she is hoping that that will be like us in heaven after we die. Boy the church has a strong hold on members and families about th...

Thanks for recommending that, Meilingkie. Your friend is very articulate and does an excellent job of explaining everything in a concise, intelligent, and entertaining way.

Re: Has Ensign Peak bought and bribed AI?

I have noticed that AI's first destination on all things Mormon seems to be FAIR and similar sources. Is there something like search engine optimization at work here?

Re: ChatGPT won’t get past the angels that stand as sentinels

I asked it a question about the Kirtland Temple dedication and it came up with an answer that was basically along the lines I was looking for, even though I couldn't find anything like it via search engines. When I asked it to provide sources it came up with names of books and articles, authors, and...

Re: So Many podcasts, so little time.

JFro's Mormon stories podcasts are excellent. I enjoy the "Just the facts, Ma'am" approach. Thanks a million, dude. :D I consider jfro's thing and Mormonism Live to be essential listening, although sometimes it takes me a while to get around to all of them. I'm not sure anyone has enough time to li...

Re: So many Holes in the gospel, so few explanations.

How important can it possibly be to accept the restored (or original) gospel in this life, when you consider that of all the people who have ever lived, the number who have had any sort of chance is too small to even be called a rounding error? Here's one way to look at it. Only the least valiant s...

NeverMo friend and eternal families

"I know the Mormon church does a lot of good for a lot of people, but what I hate about it is how it destroys families." Comment from one of my closest friends, a neverMo who had a front row seat to his daughter falling head-over-heels into Mormonism and becoming the kind of scrupulous member that G...

Re: Bible banned from schools in Davis County, Utah

The Book of Mormon's treatment of sex is one of the best tell-tales that it is a 19th century creation. The Bible has a weird and varied collection of sex-related stories and ideas that are obviously ancient in origin. Ancient writings tend to be very frank about this kind of stuff to the point of p...

Re: So many Holes in the gospel, so few explanations.

God fixes it in the end for those people. The only ones he doesn't fix it for are those born and raised in the church. They are held to the highest standard and are almost guaranteed to fall short of the goal and be denied godhood, except for the lucky few who get to be in the Second Anointed club (...

Re: Temple Prayer Roll

Gore warning: bloody picture below. This is what the sacrifice of a single sheep looks like. This was done in Jerusalem for a religious ceremony. This is only the killing part. The priests would then pour blood on the corners of the altar, on themselves, and other places. Then they would cut the ani...

Does anyone know if polyester is flammable in large quantities when stored over time?
All I know is what I hear in testimony meeting. They should not only fill that building with garments, but cover the exterior with a layer of them. It will be the safest building on the planet.

What I found very interesting, however, is that she (my great grandma) has been sealed to her first husband (my grandmother's father) AS WELL AS her LAST husband, who was hubby # 6 if I remember correctly. I will give the same response the Gospel Topics Essay on Kirtland & Nauvoo Polygamy about Jos...

Re: Temple Prayer Roll

Have not been to a temple in quite some time... so I don't know how they do it now, but I always thought writing names on pieces of paper and dropping them in a box... A lot of people phone it in (in more ways than one), but I'm pretty sure you can do it via internet these days. Here's a question. ...

Re: What does the Amazon warehouse purchase mean?

There is big money in it. Hence the Lord's interest. ...when will this market settle down and could we potentially have a bubble in the warehouse real estate market in the next few years? Unfortunately, it is just as risky for the LDS corporation as for a corporation that does not pretend prophesy....

https://www.standard.co.uk/business/mormon-church-latter-day-saints-lds-buys-wembley-amazon-warehouse-ukcm-reit-property-b1083950.html At first glance I had the impression the church was buying an operating Amazon hub, but I guess it's a warehouse that Amazon is decommissioning? Re: 60 Minutes this week: LDS & SEC

How about an organized shelter for all the folks in Salt Lake that have nothing? With just the slightest hint of inspiration and foresight, these guys could do something that would actually make them the ensign to the world that they have always claimed to be. They could completely end homelessness...

Re: Temple Prayer Roll

I recently read a post on another thread by someone who had discovered that their grandfather had been baptized in the temple 8 times, even though he was a life-long member who had been baptized when he was 8. I guess any old name will do. Maybe they should just have a computer generate names for t...
