Re: The Church's Statement on the AP Arizona Abuse Story

I never have thought about it before, but thanks to Angel and alas, I now have some clarity of thinking about how much the church does not support victims. At all. Old me would have pointed to the fact that as bishop of course I helped victims. I met with several, we had good LDS services people wh...

Re: Naïve Realism

I had similar thoughts as a young naive missionary. If people could just believe like “we” do then their lives would be sooooo amazing. All thoughts and stuff said before I even understood if their life was already fulfilling and meaningful to them. After a year out, I recall teaching a lady who le...

Re: No more “tithing settlement…”

This has been touted as giving more time back to the bishop…I don’t see it. Now the sign up sheet will go up on the office door in September….so now the bishop has to do this from Sept to December…seems like more work. I think the only benefit to the bishop is that he doesn’t have to get it all don...

Re: Adult Saturday Night Stake Conference "date"

It is unkind of your wife to use guilt about not doing what was promised at marriage. Marriage should only promise love, be faithful, put their well being at least equal to your own, you know, standard marriage things, not having the institutional church as a full one half of the marriage with just ...

Priesthood is just symbolic. Not real power, just symbolic of power.

I am getting bored at Rusty’s constant rebranding. It has reached the point of Bowdlerizations. A rose by any other name still has the same blasted thorns…um, to misquote The Bard. So, if a rose by any other name still has thorns, just changing the name changes nothing bad about it. People got spook...

Re: Sinking in how racist the Church made me

This is so true. The church taught as doctrine that blacks or anyone with any African blood was less valiant in the pre-existence. And it implied that these less valiant were more likely to be less righteous on earth, so watch out cause you can’t trust them at all. For anyone who claims that they ha...

Re: child's baptism -- help

Seeing as you are already out to your bishop, talk it over with him. Often they will let a less than perfect in the eyes of the church do the baptism. The main thing is, make sure your kid feels special. I didn’t care that my dad wasn’t going to baptist me because my grandfather baptized my older br...

Or you could just not like how you feel under the influence. Some people don’t like it for various reasons and there are people who just don’t get high. There are people who hate the feel of different things. Like I hate being on even the slightest amount of narcotic. It doesn’t kill pain, and just ...

Thanks alas so well said !!! You always have a way of making things seem obvious. It is my take all 15 are bigger liars than even Trump !!!! Well I'm not so sure about that but big liars anyway . Well, one difference, Trump often lies when he knows full good and well it is a lie. He is a pathologic...

Re: Priesthood & Motherhood

Motherhood is also very fragile and just as out of the woman’s control as the priesthood supposedly is. 20-30% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, often before the woman even knows she is pregnant. And if you as a pregnant woman take the wrong medication, drinks too much alcohol, has too much of any ...

Re: Convinced the Q15 know the truth

They know on some level just as those who voted for Trump know he lies constantly and that you can’t trust a thing he says, but they believe him anyway. We had even had a Trump supporter come here and say outright that he knows Trump lies, then turn around and defend the very things he knows Trump l...

I went through the list though, and I can't find reformed Egyptian anywhere. It is good to see my favorite hamster arou...

Re: The Church's Statement on the AP Arizona Abuse Story

to say that they are all worried about the abuse survivor and not their own hides is simply not true, and certainly not the experience I had with the hotline. One need only look at the number of support groups for addicts compared to the number of support groups for victims to know the magnitude of...

Sometimes the only thing I can do is incoherent screaming. I try to avoid that, but then I am just too exhausted and my feelings have gone completely numb. So, forgive me for not adding anything worthwhile to this discussion. I just can’t.

As long as the Saints include an Eye of Newt and a little battery acid, it's all good.
Please do not anoint me with battery acid and Eye of Newt in the oil.

Well... EVERYONE knows that the Magick doesn't work if the spell/incantation isn't worded completely correct! [/SARCASM] Yes, just like in Harry Potter, where Herminony corrects how Ron pronounced “Leviosa” not “Leviosar”. You have to get it just right, or your goblet might still have a rat’s tail ...

He told me that he made a conscious decision to hide it from me. I don't think that's okay. And, again, this isn't just any calling. This is the calling that got me permanently blacklisted. The same people who decided I am not worthy to hold any calling again, ever, or give a talk or even pray in R...

Re: Husband accepted Primary calling behind my back!

I am sorry your husband felt he couldn’t tell you the truth. I understand why this hurts. But remember that the reason that you “aren’t good enough for the church is that it likes to lie and you told the truth. The truth is that you are too good for the Mormon church. The church not only demands tha...
