Dan Mclellan's new book: The Bible Says So

Post by Hagoth »

Is anybody else reading Dan Mclellan's new book?

He does such a good job explaining how the actual nature of the Bible is so drastically different from what most people believe it to be. The OT is primarily elite propaganda. Most of the laws were borrowed from other Ancient Near Eastern traditions, and evidence shows the courts never referred to Mosaic Law in actual practice until the 3rd century AD. Yahweh worship was a tool of political manipulation that did not represent common Israelite beliefs and worship. Great discussion about Yahweh being dramatically different from the Christian God. He shows how clearly the Bible does NOT say what Christians think it does about abortion, homosexuality, etc.

I highly recommend it, especially if you're sick and tired, like I am, of people telling you that the stupid stuff they do is condoned and commanded by the Bible. Mike Johnson says, "if you want to know what I think just read the Bible." He obviously has NO kind of realistic comprehension of what the Bible really is and says, but that puts him in good company with most of the world. Actual Bible values are more in line with slavery, slaughter, genocide, rape, child sacrifice, women as property... you know, all that Godly Christian stuff.

Dan McClellan fills a real niche with his youtube posts. I'm enjoying the book as well. Some chapters are hard for me to follow, but most the book is really clear and straightforward. 8-)
Mike Johnson may be smart about some things, or maybe not. ;) Either way, I doubt he has read the bible critically. :x
God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.

I love watching Dan McClellin's YouTube shorts.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.
