Founding Fathers
I see posts online of people talking about how God 'called' the Founding Fathers to set up the USA. I occasionally reply: "Do you realize that men that you believe were called by God, namely Franklin, Washington, Jefferson, Madison and many others were deists. Ask yourself, why did God call deists to write the founding documents? Did their deism contribute to the foundation of freedom of religion in this country?

God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.
Re: Founding Fathers
Foundations - everything unfolding now is the inevitable result of everything that has ever happened, a truth any group can rightly claim as its own. I do appreciate "by the people for the people", escaping authoritarian rule. Everyone agrees it is best to stop relying on authority—healthy communities are built when people guide themselves, not when they’re ruled by someone claiming higher power.... A logical fallacy when someone claims something is true simply because an authority figure said it, but using authority figures as examples to make points certainly does work.
I've been re-reading some history recently, how it applies currently. How to break free from authoritarian rule - they were so eloquent in their written words.

Re: Founding Fathers
Like everything else, the Mormon church has stolen the story of the Founding Fathers and made them our property. In August 1877, Wilford Woodruff reported having a vision in the St. George Temple where the Founding Fathers of the United States, including the signers of the Declaration of Independence and George Washington, appeared to him and requested that he perform temple ordinances for them.
So now the Founding Fathers are Mormons therefore we have a direct link to them that nobody else can claim.
The funny thing about this story is that, unbeknownst to Pres. Woodruff, the work for the Founding Fathers had already been done. We still cling to this story, like the one of Lorenzo seeing Jesus in the temple and the Brigham > Joseph transformation, even though it could not possibly be anything but either a lie or a figment of Woodruff's imagination. It just ain't true.

Re: Founding Fathers
I vaguely remember the story, but I thought it was someone in Kirkland (maybe Navoo?) that felt the spirit on them and then did the work for the founding fathers? I am probably getting details confused.
Like modern Mormonism, someone is not saved until their work has been done at-least a dozen times.
