The simplest questions

This is for encouragement, ideas, and support for people going through a faith transition no matter where you hope to end up. This is also the place to laugh, cry, and love together.

can you share a picture? I can't find one. Everything official seems to be framed to avoid the cross. Weird.

ETA: I guess it's this:

It sounds like they're doing a Catholic style stations of the cross sort of thing?

I think you are right. I think 10-30% of most wards know Genesis is either metaphor or BS.
I’ll bet 40-60% BYU faculty also knows this. I’m guessing 10-30% of GA’s also know this.

Why did JS marry so many wives who were already married?

Why did Oliver Cowdery get excommunicated because he believed JS affair with Fanny Alger was adultery?

Why did BY marry Zina Huntington after JS died even though her husband was on a mission?

Why did JS coerce young girls to marry him?

Why did he marry so many wives behind Emma's back?

Why was there racism in the Book of Mormon, Book of Abraham etc?

Why was BY so racist?

Why does the church now disavow these racist teachings?

Why did the church finally allow blacks to have the priesthood in 1978?

I've been reading Ernest Wilkinson's (Pres. of BYU from 1951-71, for you young folks) diarys.
Why did the Church waffle back and forth from 1954 to 1962 about whether to move Ricks College (Now BYU-I) from Rexburg to Idaho Falls?
Wilkinson says it's because Pres. McKay couldn't make up his mind, but they prayed about it- again and again and again. :o
Did God change his mind? Or did Pres. McKay change and his counselors change their minds.

I'll take a different angle...

Why should members continue to sacrifice for an organization that has shown that it is unwilling to make sacrifices for them?

I understand that Rexburg lobbied extremely hard to have Ricks remain in Rexburg. Idaho Falls on the other hand was kind of "Meh". It's your deal....do what you want."

I think if they had moved it to Idaho Falls, Rexburg would have become just another Rigby or St Anthony. That town brings in BIG dollars having the college there.

Why does the church remind me so much of a pyramid scheme or multi-level marketing fraud?

1. Baptism/Holy Ghost
2. Priesthood (men only)
3. Temple endowments
4. Celestial marriage (woman/women sealed to a man.)
5. Second Anointing (That's right, I said it. It is not too holy to be mentioned.... 8-) )
