NOM website incredibly slow

Is it just me or does the NOM site load incredibly slow? Like 30 seconds to load a page slow.

I'm guessing it's slow because there are lots of bots scraping the site to the point where it's like the site is under a DDOS attack. I was hoping the bots crawling the site would eventually get everything and things would get better but the slowness has been an issue for a long time now.

Could an admin maybe look into blocking the Semrush bot and possibly other bots to see if the site load times improve?

Does this scraping mean the LLMs will now all have deep insight into what it's like to go through a Mormon faith transition?

I think that must be what they're after. Training AI. It's not the worst thing, it just stinks when one of the bots goes out of control and renders the site unusable.

The bots seem to have moved on, the site is snappy at the moment. Hopefully the storm has passed.

And it is slow again. Like Nibbler, I was able to log on back on the 10 and the site was working as it should. But when I tried during Conference on the 6th, it just kept timing out. Then today, it is back to being super slow, but at least I was able to log on. It really is pretty much unusable when it takes so long to load that sometimes it times out before it can even load.

For me, as of today, 4-13-26, it is still very slow. Pages take 30-45 seconds to load.

As of 4-28-26, It is still running slow for me. Pages are taking 15-30 seconds to load.

To the Admin, can you do a server restart? It may help to clear whatever slowing it down.

Not seriously, but what are the chances the LDSinc. is doing some sort of DOS/DDOS or something else to make the site annoying to use to drive away users? Considering what they are dumping on Mormon Stories, I would not be surprised.

I usually only show up during conference time to read those posts (and see if anything interesting has happened) and it is always very slow. Ironically, when I clicked on this thread to read it, it literally took 2 or 3 times longer to load than the other threads I looked at today (though the initial loading of the site was so slow, I wondered if the site had crashed or something).

To tell you the truth, this thought occurred to me, too. Maybe officially, or maybe some zealous member(s). May be coincidence, but no other site I go to takes this long to load pages.
