When did you start closing your eyes for prayers?

When did you start closing your eyes for prayers?

Post by Linked »

I've started opening my eyes more for prayers and it has surprised me to see that all of the kids keep their eyes open for prayers. It's hard to remember, but I think I started religiously closing my eyes for prayers around 12. But my 17 year old nieces and nephews all the way down to the little ones are looking around during prayers. The diligence of the adults to keep their eyes closed has been equally surprising; they NEVER open their eyes.

When you were TBM, when did you start closing your eyes for prayers?

I don't remember.

Based on my family, I probably started when I was in the womb.

This is a curious thing. I thought that it was due to my loss of belief in the guy we are supposed to pray to, that opened my eyes. Since then I find others with their eyes open during prayers too.

I usually smile or look surprised to see if they quickly close up. It's about fifty fifty. Mostly we just share a conspiratorial wink.

I think I've always closed my eyes as far back as I can remember before the great awakening.

Can't remember not. Started opening them when I was in the bishopric and winking at kids whose were open.

I always closed my eyes as a child. I can remember praying at a very young age (on my own, not prompted), and I already knew to close my eyes. I always felt like I was peeking if I opened them.
