LDS Freedom Forum

Post by Korihor »

I accidentally stumbled on to LDS Freedom Forum. Another corner of the internet I hadn't heard of before. At first I read through it thinking it was a NOM/MDD type board. NOPE, it's all believers.

My brain is having convulsions trying to understand what I just read. It seems these are people that know there is dog poop in the brownie and still eat it.

OK- it's not all TBM's but there is some crazy shiz going on there.

I prefer the LDS group on Baby Center.

There's always good stuff over there. Ha ha ha.

Some of our NOMs are posters too!

Edited to add since I'm down the rabbit hole now.
PP, I have to respectfully disagree. Masturbation is not considered okay by the LDS Church, whether married or not. If you would like further information on the subject, go to LDS.org and type masturbation in the search feature.
Ha ha ha! Search LDS.org for masturbation???
My dh and I have been seperated for six month stretches at a time, and he never masterbated EVER. We made a promise together that we would BOTH be our best so that we can go the celestial kingdom together.
EVER???? Um yeah, sure he hasn't!
Let me ask you all another question. What about phone sex. Technically you are masturbating but you are doing it together? What is the churchs stance on that, anyone know?
Dunno, let's search LDS.org for phone sex?
By 'not alone', that wasn't meant physically. It was meaning 'selfish'. Those were my words, not the mission pres. I'm going to bring that up with our bishop, because I'm having a hard time finding any reference about 'within marriage'; only to youth and unmarried.... If it is wrong, even within the bounds of marriage I want to be clear on that. This is why I love this board. It make me think of things and in ways I wouldn't have before.
Irony alert! "It makes me think of things and in ways I wouldn't have before!" That's why you have to ask the Bishop.... {face palm}

I read a thread on that forum where they were actually discussing whether the earth is round or flat. Most agreed on round but a couple of people believed that the pictures from space are just NASA liberal deception.

I occasionally drop by LDS Freedom forum because it is a microcosm of concentrated LDS culture. As extreme as their opinions are, I can easily see these attitudes in many close relatives and ward members. While it is usually the older generation, I see a progression of younger, leadership bound ward members passively absorbing many of these ideas.

Now that the election is over I will have to drop by and see how they felt about Evan McMullin. I had a couple of close family members voting for him and I will be talking to them this weekend at a wedding. It will be helpful to know the level of vitriol, disappointment, and conspiracy theory they are stewing in before I trigger them by asking how they feel about the rise of Trump, the God Emperor.

And these people are actually capable of using electronic devices? Amazing. I'm sure they use GPS, too.

Can't remember who I was talking with regarding GPS and flat earth society, but they had some mental gymnastics to reason it away. Pretty funny.
I'm tempting to join the Flat Earth Society just to upset some folks, mostly TBM's.

The LDS Freedom Forum seems like an unhealthy melding of religion with right-wing politics and open anarchy. Actually, the politics obscure any true religious aspect. My guess is that some of the posters have their own collection of Nazi memorabilia arranged in a shrine somewhere in their house or compound.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

In have read the freedom forum and I get too frustrated with the lack of common sense. Mormons have drunk too much from the idiot punch bowl to even see clearly. Most TBMs have their heads so far up their BP a$$ they don't know how to think for themselves. I just visited the baby center for the first time and read through that post. I almost joined so I could comment, but saw the posts were from 2011.
One person suggested that having naked or near naked photos of your wife would amount to pornography. Really??? Even within the bounds of marriage. When their husbands look at them naked I don't think they refer to them as porn queens. Not sure how taking a picture of your spouse would automatically change them into a porn star.
