Did any one else have f&t meeting today? Hoe Lee Shiz.

The crazies were out in force!!!! GC really hit the crazy hive square with a rock!

Wowzers.

Do tell! Mine was pretty vanilla, just the usual platitudes with a dash of "new prophet" adoration thrown in, but nothing too exciting.

Yup! The Nelson worship was over the top.
The sister with too many trials and tribulations cried for 30 seconds. The bishop stood up and gave her a tissue and whispered something in her ear because she quickly ended and sat down. Then some unknown guy stood up and made some dumb jokes for two minutes before explaining why he and his wife were having marriage issues. According to him he doesn't read his scriptures enough.

I further checked out at that point and starting counting the ceiling tiles. 24 wide by 36 deep, makes 864 tiles. 6 lights wide by 9 deep makes 54 light panels, times 4 long halogen bulbs makes 216 light bulbs. What else can I distract myself with?

So I went with DW to F and T meeting today. It's been a couple of years for this particular meeting in the home ward. Predictable tales of how spiritual GC was and how they all knew he is the prophet. Yawn. Excitement about the new/same as the old Ministering program and how this will help us stretch and grow. Sigh.

No crazies and DW mercifully came home with me after the one meeting.

I'm good for another couple years.

I'm bringing my virtual popcorn and may have to stay for the whole block. Holee shizzballs, RMN may have increased attendance based soley on the curiosity of the disaffected.

No crazies here. One kid used "believe" instead of "know" for his testimony and that made me happy. Then the lady that followed used her "I KNOW voice and that made me sad. And the kid I remember turning 12 and becoming a Deacon right before I got released from that calling is leaving on a mission; that got me a little emotional. Overall a pretty normal Sunday.

But then they kicked me out of Sharing Time to go be part of an "historical priesthood meeting", so I came home early and can make this post now while DW struggles with sunbeams. Maybe I should have just said no...

Well I'm totally disappointed. First, I have become so apathetic I didn't realize we already had F&T meeting the Sunday before conference, and then the Bishop announced that the reorganization of the priesthood would be occurring one ward at a time in our stake and our ward is towards the end of the list.

Sorry for the delay...

We normally have a subset of the crazies every month to count on. Today brought them all up, and some of the fringies as well.

RN and Leader hero worship - check
Hearing talks in “stereo” Leader in one ear, Holy Ghost simultaneously in other ear - check
Know, Know, KNOW!!!!! - check
Inactive relative now planning to return because Spirit - check
REVELATION REVELATION REVELATION - check
Self proclaimed new EQ Pres because he got it revealed to him (no joke) - check

I was trying to m mentally block it out but it was just too batty to ignore.

The last testimony-giver demanded that we change the closing hymn to We Thank Thee Oh God For a Prophet, and that we all stand to sing it. And we did.

Oh, I just threw up.

That's what you get from those "Active with Feeling" types.

Ugh.

He should have insisted that everyone sing the Primary favorite: Follow the Prophet. That would put some parts of the congregation on notice that they just might be in a cult. Another part will realize that they actually enjoy being in a cult.

You know, it's weird that it can always be more cultish.

There couldn't help being some sore butts over the Elder's and High Priest's Quorum Presidencies being unceremoniously kicked out in this quorum melding. Some people sublimate their anger and others freely express their anger. Pretty sure these presidencies have been viewed as a pathway to Church advancement, so they one day could interrogate the women and girls regarding you know what.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

It always seemed to me the HP quorum leadership was more aging middle managers, not considered "upper management" material. A little like SS President but not as obvious. EQ presidencies still provide an avenue for young up-and-comers to strut their obedience and thus climb the leadership tree. I think the melded quorum will mostly be staffed by the latter. But that could be completely wrong.

I suffered through singing "praise to the man" at the end of F&T and had to just change the words I was singing to not throw up in my mouth.

Yeah I refused to sing this hymn along with the congregation about a month ago. When I glanced over at DW to see if she was going to notice that I wasn't singing it, I noticed she wasn't singing it either.

Tonight I’m really sad. For 11 years I’ve hoped that there would be any glimmer of understanding from TBM DW about my not so subtle change in beliefs. Sometimes, albeit very very infrequently, she has given me the slightest of hints that her orthodox rigidity would flex a tiny bit to allow me some authenticity in my life. Tonight pretty much stamped out any hope I had. Maybe I was seeing things that weren’t there.

GC really was an avalanche of confirmation bias and retrenchment for her apparently. I tried to avoid the talks as much as possible, she sat on the couch, took notes, and hung on evey word.

She insisted on FHE tonight and testified with all the appropriate descriptors about how she knows RN is a profit, and all the other self-appointeds are as well. Evidently holy the ghost told her so while RN was speaking.

I thought I was in a better place.

I’ve been silenced in my own home by the church. I am financially extorted month over month by the church, and I am well down the list of priorities to DW behind the church.

God I’m sick of this.

Sorry for the rant.
