This is purely based on rumor, so take it with a havy does of salt.
Rumor is that that he was involved with some financial impropriety regarding church real estate in New Zealand. That is the one unpardonable sin in modern LDS Inc.: Messing with their money.
I remember reading an interview with a couple of members there who said he was skimming money from the development and construction of the new church complex.

His wife divorced him though. Do women still divorce men over having more money than they should?
I do believe he could have been skimming money and getting a little action on the side as well.
I wonder what he is doing now for work?
