Hey guys, all you need to do is watch this marketing expert's historical arguments debunking all the CES letter arguments and resolving your concerns with the bonus of nice muscle tone. Head back to church now, resistance is futile.

Re: Stephen Jones is real!
Stephen Jones is a much better communicator than most LDS apologists. However, his answers do not really address the CES letter on a point by point basis. I suppose that is because he is relying on FAIRMormon writings which tend to use a lot of strawman arguments and false equivalencies. It would be fun to have Stephen Jones sit down with Dan Vogel and discuss many of these issues.
Good faith does not require evidence, but it also does not turn a blind eye to that evidence. Otherwise, it becomes misplaced faith.

All my comments were purged. Quotes from LDS scholars and BYU. Apparently not real enough.

I watched about 90 seconds of the rock in a hat video... it's the normal LDS apologetics you come to expect.
-He actually translated it both ways, so sometimes it was rock in a hat, sometimes it was urim and thummim on top of plates
-The church commissioned that artwork but the artists are the ones that chose to depict it that way
It's nothing new and not backed up by history/evidence/common sense... but I guess it'll work if you just want to be comforted.

Otherwise it is so batsh*t crazy I have to whack myself on the head to try to understand how I ever found it reasonable. Whenever something requires excuses on top of excuses on top of further excuses you should consider asking yourself if something ain't quite right.
