You'll never see this on KSL...

I agree. It was a decent report on how Mormon temple ceremonies were mostly copied from Masonic rituals.

Fascinating that they make the connection between Joseph Smith's death and the thing that neither Masons or Mormons must never do: he revealed his signs and tokens to outsiders.

I was in a Priests Quorum class as the teacher was expounding how sacred are the temple covenants are. "Sacred, not secret" did come up, but the instructor also emphasized that members don't talk about them outside the temple and how God protects his temple. This pushed me over the edge and I finally summoned the temerity to mention that the full temple ceremonies are on YouTube. The teacher gravely noted that he would not want to be "that guy" on judgement day who would film the temple ceremonies and make them public.
I simply cannot be convinced that Signs and Tokens actually matter between humans. I love symbolism as much as the next guy, but I remain skeptical of what these signs and tokens actually do and how necessary they actually are.

They obviously strike fear into the hearts of people like your quorum instructor, so it looks like mission accomplished.

I quietly hope that one of those young men look up the endowment ceremony on YouTube and has those signs and tokens rapidly deconstructed right in front of his eyes. I just can't be the one who does it.
