Hello all,
It’s been some time since I last wrote a piece.
How have things progressed here in Holland??
Well personally a lot has changed.
As I related before I am attending an evangelical church in Rotterdam nowadays.
A Church I got to know through a co-worker, who has since been fired due to long-time illness.
We have become good friends, not just me and her, but our families.
DW likes her a lot, and so does my DD who likes her DS quite a bit.
We have attended a luncheon their Church organized and a BBQ.
All done professionally and with good food and drinks.
DD said: No more LDS-activities for me if I can have any say in it.
So we will be omitting the Christmas-musical the stake organizes, and got to the outreach-dinner our new church organizes on the same time.
Even though 2 siblings of DW participate DW said: let them do their things, I will be doing what I like, which is not being overtly LDS anymore.
Garments for example have been consigned to the attic some months ago.
We even got a nativity-scene beneath our Christmas-tree for the first time.
Last week we had the funeral of a home-teacher of ours.
I attended the viewing the day before, many were surprised I visited: When I said it was the Christian thing to do some rolled their eyes, oh well…..
DW attended the funeral itself to help the very young RSP with all the food and drinks.
She came home, disgusted because it turned into a normal service, with testimonies, and virtually nothing about the deceased.
Exactly as BKP would have wanted it, so I whipped out the Handbook of Instructions and read it to her, and then the talk of BKP.
DW was livid, very much so.
It seems to have been the last straw, she called an LDS-friend to accompany her and attend my Church yesterday.
Both ladies were touched and liked the service very much.
Strange, new, spiritual and personal.
Warm, friendly and gezellig as DD called it.
DD asked her brother to please go next week when we got home.
My jaw promptly hit the floor……..
This is my report.
